Hello everyone I was on http://nintendoeverything.com To find out as the title says Square Enix wants to Bring Dragon Quest 7 overseas. So what is everyone thought on this?
I would love it! But the inevitable petition isn't going to convince them, so I wouldn't bother starting one (speaking to the people who will definitely make one either way )
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...

Anything older they want to release I will buy. (I would have bought those DS SaGa games). Definitely buy DQ VII 3DS (Or a remake of DQ III based on the SFC version - dunno about NES or GBC both look pretty hard to tolerate.

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
Squeenix being Squeenix again. It's as if the decent sales of BD and their supposed realization that there is a market for classic-style JRPGs in the West never happened.

We obviously want overly bloated Final Fantasy games and mobile releases of old games!

Well, someone does because it's all they seem to care about at this point. As much as I agree games like the new Final Fantasy (and Kingdom Hearts) are a waste of time and money...they're still selling, so be ready to see a LOT more of them. For those of you who are still loyal...come talk to me when we get Final Fantasy XV-3 and Kindom Hearts 3.5...then we all finally agree Sqaure Enix is dead inside T_T...well besides the occasional decent/good game that just barely scrapes its way onto Western shores.
It would. I mean, SE was too scared to localize Bravely Default and look how well that did and that was a new IP. An existing franchise with a decent fanbase would definitely support a DQ game on 3DS as they did for DQ games on DS.

The only reason the Kingdom Hearts remakes even exist are because Sony's backwards compatibility setup has been absolutely pathetic since post-60gb launch PS3 model.
Hopefully Nintendo can convince them. I do believe Nintendo owns the north american publishing rights to dragon quest, so would they not cover the localization fees?

Depends on the terms to such rights

I doubt it'd sell badly. The 3DS market is being dominated by praise towards the many RPGs on it. Plus if new IP like Bravely Default can sell well here in NA, then I doubt that a beloved franchise like Dragon Quest would sell badly, especially since we westerners haven't gotten any new Dragon Quest action in ages! If they're very nervous then try to get the word out, like ask to have a segment in a Nintendo Direct, or work with Nintendo to really push on the advertising.
Of course it would sell well. The last 5 main series releases in NA all did. There isn't even a question here. I would buy it. You would buy it. Every fan of pre-merger Square would buy it (re: every JRPG fan over 16).
No matter how many times SE succeeds outside of Japan, they never understand why. They don't get why nobody cares about Lightning. They don't get why Bravely Default sold a million copies. They don't get why Tomb Raider shouldn't have a budget of $100mil. If there's a company in the industry worse at market analysis, I don't know of it.
Meanwhile in all the confusion, Atlus offers its official statement: "LOL."
