I have a question regarding the Spotpass functionality of the 3DS console. Does this feature also upgrade the device firmware, beyond downloading content for games and updating programs?
The thing is that I've been victim to quite many console-bricking due to automatic updates(the PS3 being the latest in the trend) and I'd rather want to have the option to update the console manually whenever I feel like it. On the other hand, I don't want to lose the extra free goodies that the functionality might bring to my games. So, the question is, is it possible to have both?
I don't know what would be bricked on the 3DS. It does update firmware .... sometimes, maybe, I can't ever tell what an update is for unless it alters the Mii Plaza or a game I play a lot.

yes it does update it all, but it's been a long while since it bricked some systems(except ones with pirate stuff in them) this was the last one I heard about and it did nothing noteworthy....
EDIT I forgot to mention the automatic updates are the ones that won't have big changes or effects, in fact I never heard of automatic ones bricking! the important ones require the user's permission.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn
