To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, Nintendo has released a special edition of Nintendo 2DS. It is available in four special Pokemon themed colors.
Each also includes a free monster capture game that match with the device’s theme color. For example, if you buy a red Nintendo 2DS, you will receive a Pokemon Red. Nintendo 2DS special edition is expected to be released on the 27th February 2016 in Japan.
Nintendo is not just re-releasing old Gameboy games but they have also upgrade them to meet today’s standards. For the first time, players can connect with other players wirelessly on the internet to battle or trade Pokemon with them. The Nintendo 2D devices will arrive ahead of the release of Nintendo’s Pokken Tournament in the Spring of next year.
The remastered versions of the 4 Pokemon titles will be available for purchase from the Nintendo eshop for both Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 3DS owners. There is not yet any information on when the Nintendo 2DS will be released in North America but they should be making an announcement soon.
You make it sound like the games will be upgraded in significant ways outside of the trading and battling being made wireless.
Also, the 2ds has been in America for a good while. Unless you mean the special editions. I have a transparent blue 2ds already so I'm fine, but it would be nice to see more transparent colors available.
