Read it fully and apparently, he's (Shuhei Yoshida) thinking of unity in the 3D gaming space between Sony and Nintendo. I like how he thinks really, and apparently he doesn't really care about competition but the general audience which is expectant of the upcoming technology.
"With the latest technology, the glasses are light and you kind of forget you're wearing them after awhile." Yeah but with the 3DS it's like your not even wearing them at all. ...wait a minute...
Anyway at best I feel Sony is jealous of Nintendo's technology. Nintendo has something great up their sleeves. Something Sony doesn't.

You know, I wear glasses, and to wear my glasses AND 3D glasses at the same time is a HUGE hinderence for me. Nintendo has it right and I thank them for it. I didn't like wearing 3D glasses for theatres, I don't like wearing 3D glasses at home, I laugh at you, Sony, I'll buy another Nintendo platform while I count down the days to the closure of your pathetic video game division. I have a bottle of a fine beverage I'll be waiting to uncork when your gaudy business practices finally bite you in the rear end you self-absorbed pieces of... ahem...
Sony, thank you for staying in the 1950s by staying with glasses. Nintendo, thank you for being the wave of the future. Microsoft... um... thank you for taking Rare off of our hands at the right time?
Hey Sony, some people don't like 3D glasses and Nintendo, like always, is creating the future of gaming (look at your own PS Move) and setting the standard with glasses-less 3D.
It is not about being jealous of technology, but the idea of putting it into a hand-held. The reason the 3DS works without glasses is due to the short distance, which creates a larger parallax between your two eyes. Sitting on your couch at a TV, the angle is nearly the same.

Nintendo didn't have the idea first, Sharp did. then Nintendo took the hardware from them. Sharp says that the 3D screen will be in most smartphones next year.
There's a simple reason for Sony to say this. They benefit from having 3D over all pushed because they're the ones making 3D TVs and 3D movies and 3D cameras so it's not about pushing the tech for the users at all, it's about pushing 3D as whole because Sony has other areas where they'll benefit. Nintendo is only making the 3DS, Nintendo should only push the 3DS because they don't benefit if 3D TVs are popular.
...and honestly after all the bashing Sony does this is rich coming from them. Their whole marketing campaign(Kevin Butler) is based around bashing the competition.

Yes, and that's the kind of synergy nonsense that I despise. That's primarily what motivates Sony's gaming choices at any given moment: how to drive sales for other sectors of their company (Blu-Ray, 3D televisions, etc). I just want a company whose sole concern is gaming. Oh wait, there already is one, called Nintendo.
Maybe Nintendo should start making 3d tv's, if they were like the 3ds with no glasses they probably sell fairly well

What?
They're pushing 3D on consoles, which right now HAS to use glasses.
Sony isn't jealous, Nintendo is doing something much easier and knocking what Sony is doing.
Of course I realize everyone on this site is going to go 'lolz @ sony' but it sounds like Yoshida's looking to push 3D, in a different way, along with Nintendo.
He's just asking for them not to knock what he's doing. It's not like he came out and criticized the 3DS.
Good lord, there's nothing other companies can say that the people on this site won't hate them for.
As if Sony hasn't mocked the Wii constantly. Maybe they haven't said anything critical of the 3DS yet, but give it a little time, haha. They have a long, bright future ahead of them to make the same kind of comments.
Nintendo's said nothing direct. Glasses have been around a long time for 3D. They're as much making fun of movie theaters as Sony (maybe that uses Sony tech, though, I don't know, never been to a 3D movie outside of Disney World).
