I've not seen anything yet that clarifies whether they'll be any difference in performance of the same game across the two models. Presumably some will come with the option to display in 4k and/or VR, but will there be any graphical differences beside resolution and VR?
Nintendo pretty much HAVE done the same. We don't know if they intended to make New 3DS exclusives but the sales just weren't high enough, or if they never planned any and it was just a quick way to resell consoles to 3DS owners, but when the only exclusive game is a port of a 5 year old Wii title, I don't think old 3DS users have any reason to feel like they're missing out.

There was also Binding of Issac and the SNES games too. The New 3DS supporting Unity was perhaps to encourage more New 3DS exclusive games from 3rd parties but it has/did not pay off.
Oh geez, E3 hasn't even started yet, and we're already getting new guys joining just to troll- oh hey Tasuki. ^_^;
But yeah, even if they're actually being true to their word and not just relaying damage-control-level PR bs, it could just as easily mean that the upgrades won't be very substantial, and Sony is just pulling the trigger too early.
Oh, yeah, and that there were a few New 3DS games that could utilize New 3DS features without excluding the original platform as well. Damn good ones, too. But we haven't really had any since, despite the new platform apparently selling well, since it's apparently not worth the time and money when more people have, and are satisfied with the vanilla platform. Sometimes too many options just spreads things too thin.
Me personally, I wouldn't miss it if WiiU didn't get support for NX since it's OS is a mess. But slow down, cowboy. We don't have the full details. Unless were talking shorting load times and stabilizing frame rates a la COdename steam and hyrule warriors legends then it's a moot point.
Edit: Actually, yes it is ! Because the PS4K IS a New Nintendo 3DS!
It's sad when your competitor does what Nintendo refused to do with the New 3DS. And Nintendo wonders why they struggle against Sony and MS.
But the 3DS isn't struggling against the Vita (quite the opposite, actually) and Microsoft isn't even making handhelds (Lumia doesn't really count, does it?).
Anyway, nice thread. Just real nice.
God first.

IF Ultra HD gaming is supported, then I would imagine that only low-tech indie games will be able to handle it, considering that many AAA games are not rendered natively even at 1080p (and Ultra HD is 4 times larger than Full HD).
I was under the impression that the new half-gen upgrades will only support Ultra HD video playback, not gaming.
Two things:
1. Do you really believe that there won't be PS4 Neo "exclusives" at some point down the road? Because if I recall at launch Sony said that the PS4 would have BC and Microsoft said that the XBOne would not. Which one ended up getting BC? Do you really believe their PR?
2. Hasn't the vast majority of the whine about the New 3DS been that it lacked exclusives. It has what, 1? 2 games? A few other titles that run better and SNES VC. I have an original 3DS, at no point have I felt left behind because I don't have a New 3DS.
The vita is far from dead. I own both 3ds and vita and so far the vita has had a lot more support than 3ds. (Sony just doesn't market it at all, that's why it's not selling as well) I still don't buy the whole older models cannot play SNES VC. It's entirely possible for it but Nintendo wants to push the new models and keeps screwing older models by not putting any more VC of any kind on it. (NES games don't have pixel perfect mode so what the hell) I say to do like Sega and make ports for older models and 2ds (3D classics are cheaper than Nintendos rom drops)
Hyrule Warriors utilizes the upgraded n3ds hardware pretty well, it performs better than on the WiiU. And it's a recent game.
Wait seriously? How?! Why...just...damnit Nintendo...and double-damnit Koei, why do I even bother buying your games until the super-ultra-definititive-deluxe editions are out?
Seriously, paid $40 for the Wii U version, only to find that the good stuff was locked behind about $50 of DLC...and then there's a portable version with new content, as well as at least half of the DLC, and now I hear it does it without any sacrifices in performance?
Oh yeah, and the $40 for the Wii U version was at a discount, about 15 months after its initial release, whereas the 3DS version was $40 to start...I see it for under $30 already, but I'm sure if I got it now, they'll just announce the NX Deluxe Edition, complete with it's own solid gold condom...you know what it's for...
Well, to be completely fair, the WiiU does look a lot better and can spawn more enemies on screen. And it has multiplayer.
But yeah, HWL on n3DS = definitive version of the game. If you can get it and have a n3DS then whatruwaiting4.
Anyway, looking at the the head, maybe the title should've been "Sony won't what Nintendid".
Wait, spawn more enemies? Okay, you're forgiven for now, Nintendo/Koei. At least until the NX Warriors: "Pimp My Players" edition drops the golden toil- I needed to use the bathroom about halfway through writing this, sorry...
