Since someone made a downgrade of Mario, I thought of doing one for Sonic the hedgehog.
So almost every time sonic is in 3d, he ends up being mediocre. Even lost world to some feels mediocre at best. I want to try Lost world despite the reviews and I'm gonna say something nice to SEGA. SEGA is a good company that is just struggling in the industry right now. They are trying to make Sonic unique. But the problem is that the concept of sonic's speed is something they are trying differently and it just doesn't end up working.
You can say that 06, Unleashed, Secret rings and Black Knight are bad but Lost World does not have an excuse to be bad.
After completing Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure, I haven't had much interest in any Sonic game going the 3D route. I felt both Rush titles captured the sense of speed I expect from Sonic perfectly. Colors (DS) lost a bit of that sense of speed, but it still did maintain the spirit of the Rush games pretty well. Since Colors (DS), I haven't touched a new Sonic game. If they made more sidescrollers, I'd probably buy.

2. There have actually been Sonic platformers that deserve to qualify as new games recently

Infact the world of gaming wouldn't have been completed without Mario and Sonic. You want something fun , you play Mario. You want something awesome, you play Sonic.
I feel the characters revolutionized the game industry where Nintendo is fun whereas SEGA is hardcore. Maybe that's how Sony and Microsoft came up with the idea of making their stuff hardcore by looking at how SEGA did it and SEGA couldn't have done that without Sonic the hedgehog.

Just for your information, I am currently playing through '06. I wish I had the will power not to play this game, but I am a sucker for all things hedgehog, and have a goal to play every single Sonic game ever made but thats besides the point.
I have only played the demo on my 3DS so I'll just go based on what I've played. The game was OK, but there were some heavy problems. The level I played was uninspired and boring. It felt like Sonic Team slapped Green Hills on a generic level. Controls weren't that big of an issue, but it didn't feel fine tuned at all. Most annoyingly, Sonic's super speed wasn't there and he was just briskly walking throughout most of the level.
I don't think I'll be buying Lost World any time soon for any system. It just didn't get me excited for Sonic, and I loved Sonic. The Genesis games were all amazing (excluding 3D Blast which was more like an experiment that didn't work well as opposed to a bad game) and so were Adventure 1&2.
And what's up with the cut scenes? They should've not been in the game at all if they were going to turn out like that.
Sega's problems aren't exclusive to Sonic. I'd like to see Sega sell off a lot of their classic properties and let someone else do them because they clearly don't care. Just the fact that Sega has another Alien game in the works makes me furious.
