so I wanted to get the 2ds bc well I like the way it look and been wanting to play Pokemon on it but since there is going to be a Pokemon gaming coming to the switch does that mean that the 2ds only have about 2 years left on it? I feel as if they are going to be leaving the 2ds behide?

There's still an updated version of Pokemon Sun/Moon coming soon as well as a couple of other games. No need to worry about being left behind, there are more decent games than can ever be played already out.

@Ginofresh I think it's fair to say that the 3DS family has been around since early 2011, the system is more than six years old. And with the Switch being a handheld device too, expect it to replace their 3DS/2DS line sooner than later. Don't get one if you're looking for a ton of new games, after this year I expect the software output will be minimal for the system.

yes that is true that is why I think I am going to end up keeping it as the switch doesn't have that many games yet @Cantisque

Buy the 2DS XL and enjoy the amazing library of games the 3DS family has. I don't know why people are so worried about what's coming next for the 3ds when there is such a huge backlog of amazing titles to be played on the 3DS.

The 3DS is still being purchased - still highly profitable. Doubt they will ditch the 3DS/DS line until the Switch can be priced at a lower price point. I have a switch - but i primary play my 3DS because of always being on the go (at work/office) and the amazing library the 3DS has - not to mention the DS cartridge compatibility is a HUGE plus. There is no VC on Switch (yet?) there is absolutely no backwards compatibility as well (would be cool if we had some way of playing ds/3ds games on the switch). Also the battery life on the 3DS is EXCELLENT - switch is not even close imo (real world battery life). Especially if you play intense games on either of the systems - breath of the wild is a very short run on the Switch (battery life wise) Smash bros or hyrule warriors on the 3DS will let you play for hours on a single charge....I don't see the switch outright replacing the 3DS imo. Especially the pricepoint - the standard 2DS is such a good bang for your buck.

That's why I'm rather holding off on the Switch for now. I never really cared for the 2DS, but I rather like the design of the new 2DS XL! Got mine today, and I like how it's smaller and lighter than the New 3DS XL! I'm fine with giving up the 3D, since I frequently have it turned off anyway!

2DS still getting new games announced like Persona Q2. There's so much to play already and still more lots of games coming that you could basically play full-time with 2DS as your only system altogether.
