Didn't see a thread, so I thought I would make one.
Who hype?
I'm surprised and delighted that it will retain its original Japanese dub in the overseas release. Also isn't subject to the Atlus tax and will retail at $39.99 in NA.
@Tsurii Just means I won't have to listen to English voice actors struggle to pronounce Japanese names like they did in SMT IV: Apocalypse.
Still, it's unusual. I thought they dubbed everything in English. And it didn't get an announcement trailer. I wonder why this is getting such low-profile treatment?
Oh well, it's coming over, and that's all that really matters.
@Ralizah Etrian Odyssey has a comfortable and dedicated fanbase in the West (who have harassed their twitter account for months on end) and the original Radiant Historia is widely regarded as a sleeper hit. Strange Journey is (from what I've heard) pretty hardcore SMT, with people describing the very game feel and atmosphere as "oppressive". It's got the most niche appeal of them, with little going for it in the way of accessibility.

@CrazedCavalier I mean, the same could be said for both Soul Hackers (remake of a Sega Saturn game that never made it Stateside!), which also got a dub and was promoted pretty decently. Moreover, even though mainline SMT rarely get much attention, Atlus still usually promotes the heck out of it.
Just weird all around.
PS: I won't deny I might have also messaged Atlus USA on twitter about EO V once or twice. <3
I don't know whether or not to be upset that one of my favorite games of all time is getting a remake before I finished my original playthrough, or to take this as a sign that I should use this remake to rediscover an old favorite all over again...becuase, I hate to say it, but former one of those options would save me 40 bucks...
I feel that way about Radiant Historia. I just beat it a little over a year ago and don't need the new version even though I claimed it my favorite ds game.

It turns out it's really difficult to share ones excitement for E3 without an audience...so I'll be here until, er...end of the day tomorrow, I guess? However long I can last. I already have a migraine now, and I haven't even eaten my italian ice yet...
My problem is more that I'm halfway through Strange Journey, and I never quite got around to finishing it. I'm to far from the end to consider pushing through it, and I'm too far in, and too poor, to consider starting over, but if I did, it'd probably be in a new version, like with Devil Survivor.
Man I'm so hypted for the remakes of SMT: Strange Journey & Radiant Historia! I'm not an SMT fanboy but Strange Journey had mix of Dark Spire/Etrian Odyssey feel with an SMT wash that I liked. Man it kicked my butt....it was unapologetic and once you would get your stride it would smack you back down. I can't wait for that all over again! I'm not a sadist but get tired of games that hand hold or let you buy your way to an ending.
I never had a chance to play Radiant Historia so the I hypted for the remake for my first playthru. Fingers crossed that they both get the royal treatment.
@twrex Oh I have a feeling Strange Journey will get some treatment but Atlus as of late (at least on the 3ds side) have been toning down the difficulty a bit and I'm not just talking about casual mode. I won't be able to compare it since I never played the original but Atlus 3ds seems way easier then Atlus DS ever did. Either way I'm still excited as well to get to experience this for the first time.

@Spoony_Tech EOIV aside, I wouldn't say most of Atlus' recent games have been "toned down." Rather, they tend to make their more recent games more accessible for newer players by adding difficulty options and making QoL changes in games like EO Untold and the Devil Survivor ports. The hardcore Atlus experience is still around, it's just hidden in "hard mode" most of the time.
It is weird that Atlus is doing other games with English VA's but not this one. Also, it has been a while since I played this one but wasn't the soldiers American?
