I really love this game, the atmosphere of it is absolutely awesome. It's really very different from a lot of the games on the market today. So I mean if you're an SMT and EO fan then I would definitely recommend you get it.
This is coming from sombody who absolutely loves EO IV, and the SMT series. Currently playing this Overclocked and EO IV.

The creepy vibe, surprisingly funny dialogue, and gritty Saturn visuals evoking classic cyberpunk make this one very memorable.
I do not have this, but I am buying Shin Megami IV tomorrow. I've been looking forward to Shin Megami. I feel bad that I have not played Soul Hackers, since I have heard it is amazing. It's one of the next games on my list though.
I will play this game one day. I did actually get a streetpass for the a while back. I played till I unlock streetpass but then haven't touched it since. I was in the middle of EO4 at the time then other games came out. I think I won't have time for this till some time next year if the releases let up. Probably after Bravely Default. With SMT IV out tomorrow and Mario and Luigi next month I just don't see the time. Plus add in Pokemon, Zelda, and millennium girl my rpg list is full for about a year! Now where is Fantasy Life?!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
So I don't know if necro'ing this sort of threads on this site is frowned upon or something, but anyway, I've been playing this as of late. Similarly to the poster above, I bought it a pretty long time ago - around the time I grabbed a 3DS, - played it just for long enough to get the Streetpass thing going and clearing the first ''dungeon'', and then a myriad other games took over. But now I'm fully getting into it and planning to beating AND completing it.
I've had the game on max difficulty ever since I was given the choice to increase it. I quite like it. It is challenging, but it rewards the player for a strategic/patient combat style rather than mindlessly prioritizing sheer offense to blast through everything. I find myself using buffs and debuffs to great effect more than in many other SMT-derived games, which is really cool. Other than that, the 90s cyberpunk aesthetics are a bit of an acquired taste, but it's all grown on me along with the classical plot and character types. There seems to be a lot to do on a New Game+, too.
So far I'm a bit over 20 hours and according to what I've looked up, well past the mid point of the game. So I guess I might end my first playthrough somewhere over 30 hours and get going with NG+ and my trademark obsessive completionism right away. I honestly appreciate that it won't be an endless endeavor to complete this one, because my backlog is growing as big as ever.
I keep meaning to get this but when I'm in the mood I remember how cheap it goes in a sale and when it's on sale I've too many other games to play through first ho-hum.
Oh wow, this game's thread popped up again. Only game I can recall where I was utterly humiliated multiple times in battle against a demonic talking dolphin. You're supposed to overload him with magic and make him explode, but I didn't realize this and just whittled down his health over the course of an hour or so with physical attacks, which is not how you're meant to defeat him. Boy, didn't I feel dumb after that fight!

I really need to replay this one day.
Hahaha, I did the same thing you did. I only knew about the actual/proper method two days ago courtesy of YouTube comments. It wasn't quite as grueling a fight for me, though, because I was using multiple buffs and debuffs. 4 Tarukaja for increased party attack + 4 Rakunda for decreased enemy defense meant about 20-30 points of damage per attack. I'd say it took about 15 minutes to take it down.
Thinking back on it I don't regret beating the darn thing this way. It felt awesome, and even more so now after learning I'm not supposed to do it like that.
