I'm a big Atlus fan but don't know much about this game. I've played all of the Etrian Odyssey series and own both the Devil Survivor ones as well. I'm looking forward to see how this game plays! Also with the recent announcement of the mash up of SMT and Fire Emblem this game might get more attention then it normally would. Anyone else interested in this one besides CanisWolfred? .
You could probably guess I'm on board...but with EO4, MH 3DS /WiiU and everything else coming along, I could very well go broke.
@Tech...did you ever finish EO3 (and you played the first 2?)...and did you ever finish Devil Survivor Overclocked?
No I never finished EO2 or 3 or Overclocked either. I'm bad when it comes to finishing games. Specially long ones. I've gotten better though as I've beat at least 5-8 games over the last year so who knows! . Give me your 3ds code again my friend.

I don't remember my 3DS code. I have played very little of it lately. Since finishing Res Evil Rev (my first Res Evil) I started taking a break from so much gaming. My wife mainly uses it for netflix. I've been spending much of my free time doing crosswords (and playing the WiiU). I've got some stuff going on and can't seem to focus much. Hopefully with the new releases coming I will snap out of it!
I actually own the Saturn version of this game, but could not get far due to my very limited knowledge of the Japanese language. Still, it has some great music as far as I can tell. I'd pre-order it just for the soundtrack! You guys should be warned that it's more Strange Journey than Persona. I don't remember how you recruit demons (if you do that at all, I really did not get that far)[EDIT: A little research shows that it's through demon negotiations. I love those, but I know a lot of people find that frustrating], but most of the dungeons are from a first person perspective. I hear it's not brutal, heck, it's supposedly not even as hard as Strange Journey, but it's no walk in the park, either. The story and atmosphere are supposed to be the most appealing aspects of the game, though, and what little I've seen of various translations do seem to be quite impressive. I'm in it mostly for the music and cyberpunk setting, though. I look forward to seeing how everyone else takes to the game.
Ok, well if this game is a standalone story, then I'm comfortable buying it. That preorder bonus looks nice, and thats a cool thing about Atlus. Hey, Canis, this is my first SMT game. What can you tell me that I should know about the SMT games?
I don't really have an idea for a signature, so I guess this will do. For now.

I wish I could help, but I can't find anything properly explaining the gameplay in Soul Hackers that doesn't have too many spoilers...I do know that it has demon negotiations and fusions, though, and that it is turn-based, but I don't know exactly how that works in this game. Like I said, I couldn't understand the Saturn Version (it's only in Japanese), and while a lot of SMT games play similarly, some don't, and the other SMT Devil Summoners were among the latter. I don't want to give you information that you can't use.
It's probably also a hard game, so I can see why you'd want advice...I'll look harder. This is probably something a lot of people here could use.

Thanks for dueing some research! I was watching a YouTube video of the Japanese version and it looks good from what I could tell!

Yea I really appreciate your help Canis. Looking forward to owning another Atlus game. I'll look up some info on the SMT line of games. Don't really worry to much about spoilers. Keep up the great work!

Just picked up my copy minutes ago. Not sure if I want to play it since I'm actually pretty far into EO4 and a few other games. I will probably play for an hour or two though to get a feel for it! I'm actually kind of excited after the review to really get into this. I need to burn through EO4 now!!

So, I'm currently playing Etrian Odyssey IV, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Devil Survivor: Overclocked, Virtue's Last Reward, Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, Ever17, The Walking Dead adventure game, Persona 4, and Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
In other words, as much as I'd like to, I think it would probably be wise to finish some of these games before I even touch my pre-ordered copy of Soul Hackers.
From gameplay clips I can confirm that the music IS amazing.
