For the people who own Sm4sh Demo or the japanese version.
Do you find anything wrong with the feel of the game. I wanted to get this off my chest and see if I could relate to anyone or maybe see if what I say is the complete opposite for anyone. I own the Demo, so I can only say as much as I know and have. Overall, I think this game is great and can't wait for the real thing. Falling speed, special effects, even though it may look ugly I can accept it. It's all amazing for the 3ds.
But somethings concern me...

  • Launch. I feel that the smash attacks do a bit to much launch compared to other moves. Everything is a little harder to Ko now (Not that theirs nothing wrong with that), but smash attacks Ko much earlier at 80% - 100%. While other moves like Mario's Back-Air, Links Up-Strong and Pikachu's Neutral-Air only Ko round the 130% - 160% mark. What used to be good Ko moves in Brawl (Link's Spin Attack and Down-Air for example) aren't as good as they used to be. Knowing that I built up the damage meter to 148% so that way I'm capable of Ko'ing with basically almost any attack is kinda pointless since I could just Smash them at 90% and get the Ko. I just think maybe the Smash Attacks could be nerfed on the launch side a little to make the most out of the fact that it's a little harder to Ko characters now.
  • Lightning Ko Effect. When you get hit heavily at high percentage. You expect to be Ko'ed, right? But you may be wrong. You hang on the edge of your seat hoping you don't hit that Blast-Zone. Now, you can basically tell weather your Ko'ed from the get go or not. When you get hit heavily, you see a cool Lighting Effect that tells you "You're Ko'ed!" about a mass lot of the time. And when you don't see it, you know your still alive. I feel this kill joys the excitement before the match even ends. That's not all. Soft launches may even sometimes show the Lighting Effect meaning you hit the Blast-Zone... Just. That's where most of the excitement goes in the soft launches. Gradually moving towards off screen and not knowing if you're Ko'ed or not. Still, the Lightning Effect does look cool when someone actually rockets to the moon. And sometimes I get a bit surprised when I get a Ko without the Lighting showing me, but I've become so used to it that I don't take notice because I always say "No lighting, No Ko." If the Lighting Effect only appeared if you launched them at a certain launch speed than that would be acceptable.
  • Camera. This is the smallest problem and doesn't need a change really, but I want to talk about it. The camera just doesn't pan enough when you enter the Magnifying Glass after a launch. Because the Magnifying Glass area is so large, its hard to tell when you'll be visible on the screen again. So many times I've drought-ed more than I thought I would and even using the double jump while I'm not even on screen. Every time I get sent over to the Magnifying-Zone. If feels like the same distance each time. First I'll recover, the second time, I won't make the edge. I feel that their trying to make more use of the Magnifying damage, which is kinda pointless.

Overall, most changes from Brawl to the 3ds version are good but these things I find take away a good part of what made super smash brothers exciting and now what the most smallest things in a smash bros game actually can take effect on a gamer's experience. Still, I really do like this game. Even though its a Demo. I can still feel the core of smash in here. Now I could be over exaggerating or over butthurt, but I really needed to get my opinions off my chest.

The lightning effect doesn't mean a KO. Countless times I've seen people live afterwards. I guess it's all about vectoring now as well.

The camera is tough to deal with. It's pretty limited in the angles it can go.
Never found an issue with the other parts, except when it comes to controlling with the 3DS XL. It's straining at times.
Does anyone have a 2DS? If so, how does that feel?

I have a 2ds. The 2ds's buttons, Circle-Pad and D-Pad placements are pretty roomy so its comfortable imo. Probably because the 2ds is large and you can fit your hands right around it.

It feels borderline chaotic to play. That's not a bad thing but you REALLY have to pay attention when playing because I think its easy to get lost on the level.

it plays great when there are up to 3 fighters out, when a 4th gets in I feel its too much going on for the small screen

The game feels fantastic. I have noticed that I have to be a little more acrobatic to KO opponents because recovery is so dang easy if you knock them to the side. Each character has their strong points. Mega Man has an excellent down smash attack and Villager has a great side smash, among other things.

Also, if you can play in 3D, do it. It's the best use of 3D I have ever seen in a 3DS game. I always have to play in 3D, it's that good.
