Nintendo + Skype = (insert cool name here) and then we have a a good compromise......anyone?
Currently playing: 3DS: KI: Uprising Wii: Xenoblade Chronicles "Heh, heh... Thanks... You're nice. Umm... Can I ask... a question? Your friends... What kind of... people are they? I wonder... Do these people... think of you...as a friend?"
Now that I think about it, do you know how dangerous it could be to have a bunch of immature kids with the ability to Skype whenever they wanted? I see bad things with that situation, especially if it has video support.

You're kind of late to the party. Skype and many other video chat services are already freely available to everyone regardless of age. Besides, kids can already do immature things, with or without Skype or the 3DS.
However, Skype on a portable device like the 3DS would be incredibly useful for a whole lot of people, myself included. Most of us use Skype for things like calling family or friends. I use it every day to call my brother who lives overseas, and while I was studying in the UK I used to call my mum every day. My phone bill would have been through the roof if it wasn't for Skype.
Also, this is the attitude that led to friend codes and stunted online play for virtually every game released on a Nintendo platform so far.

You don't have to accept calls, problem solved.

And can you go a little faster?!
@Aviator Skype has a whole ton of privacy features. You can choose to automatically ignore all calls, chats or invites from anyone who isn't on your friend list. I do this. You can also block people you don't want to contact. All of the public personal details you can include on your Skype account (like age, gender and location) are 100% optional.
I know, I have skype myself, but with Irks going along the lines of "dangerous kids" there are security measures in place as H Mack said.

I wish that nintendo should make a program called Skype 3DS so they can make free calls , video chat and more but they have to come up with ideas buts it takes time and months if nintendo wants to make skype for the 3ds. they make a free app Skype 3ds on Nintendo Eshop so you can download it on your 3ds.
It wouldn't be a bad idea from the consumer perspective - having the option of using Skype on a 3DS would be good. (Personally I wouldn't use it as I'd just use a PC, but others may feel differently).
However, I do wonder how much money could be made from it. I can't see a large part of the 3DS userbase ever actually buying Skype credit to call phones from, and I have my doubts that developing Skype software for the 3DS would be a sound investment. (This is, of course, assuming that the Skype software would be distributed free of charge on the 3DS, as it is on every other platform).
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
@AtomicWaffles They want to cut off Linux support on ARM Devices with Windows 8 so I suppose there is worry about Microsoft keeping Skype Microsoft products exclusive.
I would love Skype on the 3DS. Hopefully if it does happen we will be able to switch between inner and outer cameras.
That was before Microsoft bought Skype. And you can still get Skype on Macs and iPhone/iPod/iPad, so whatever. Microsoft and Apple are friendly rivals, they support each other's products (MS Office on Macs, iTunes on Windows, etc.).
It would be nice if it was free, because then you could count on your friends having it. Though Skype is overrated a Video chat feature would be nice because swapnote is ok, but you can't send long messages.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
