@supernin10do, yeah that would be great, unlike the Skype on the PSP was kinda lame to me. The PSP Skype kept logging me out and its slow and you have to buy a headset and all that junk so thats upsetting!

You are in correctment! The 3DS already has better wi-fi, a good mic, and good speakers.

Also @HolyMackerel you seem to know alot about Skype. can you just chat on Skype if you feel like it? Like can you just chat to other Skype users using just words and not by talking or using a camera?

@Arcanum I use Skype a lot. Yes, there is text chat if you don't want to call someone.

I e-mailed Nintendo about Skype and I got a very positive response. However the response seemed to indicate that Nintendo will be making their own chat program while at the same time they are very much opened to Skype as well it seemed.

What did all of the message say

I hope we won't have to pay to call folks on the computer that would be a draw back.

Then you should find out more about Skype. Skype-to-Skype calls are and will always be free.

It's only the premium services like Skype-to-landline and Skype-to-cellphone calls which are paid.

What it is? When I tried it, the message said u had to pay. It must have been a error.

well. don't they have Skype for the psp? I never used it because of the expensive connection fee's. and i don't know anyone who owns a Skype phone so i can't call for free. (because as far as i know Skype phones aren't very popular). so, if you really want to call people i advise you use your home phone, or a cell phone. = although i do think text messaging or long distance video chat for the 3ds is cool.

Cringing is really fun.

JadeGirl

@Werble, yeah they do, I have a PSP and use Skype sometimes but I don't use it anymore

Skype-to-landline isn't too outrageous. Its only $3 per month for US/Canada, and even cheaper if you buy a longer-term plan ($30.50 for the year).

Um that doesn't sound vary bad, I think that's a pretty good price

Bring Skype to 3DS. As for Nintendo's own- THAT too.

Rather have both than one- but I'd pick Skype if were only given one. Nintendo's own Voice Chat thing could be focused on the 'friend list' on your 3DS to stay in communication with your [gamer] friends- and so on and so forth...

That's IF there is one (which is highly likely anyhow).

That's a pretty good idea. Now lets hope Nintendo sees this and listens to the fans begging for Skype.

Skype is the ultimate app for DS systems. It would be so freaking cool. But I don't plan on getting a 3DS because I'm not rich, so I'd want it for a DSi. It would be SO COOL. As long as it didn't require the person you're chatting with to also be using a DS system.

Uhh.. Does anybody really "need" gaming systems or chatting systems or technology at all? No, but we get it because it's cool.

I agree with everything you said. We get these kind of systems because there totally awesome. But um we all pretty poor, but we save and save for something really awesome. I don't have a job or anything so I save the little money I have and money I get for my B-day, Holidays and money I get from my parents. And I'm happy to say that I got 350 dollars for the 3DS already, so I thank the Lord. So don't give up Paperskyx just try and get some money some how. This is the best big THING. And there's no waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay I would miss this big event.

Lets hope Skype comes to the 3DS. We will really be rockin.

It would be cool if you could have a Skype convo while playing games, single or multiplayer

Aviator, great idea. But, in thinking about it, if they were to do that, Nintendo would need to make Skype a big feature, and would probably have to have games that are specially marked for it.

Skype is already video chat/voice chat with even more features than what you've asked for. It would not be a stretch for them to include Pictochat if Nintendo asked them to include it.
