Topic: Skylanders : Spyro's Adventure

Game has been getting crazy good reviews. May wait for a price drop in the software and just buy some of the guys separate.

I might get it, but im waiting for a nintendolife review.

Also, i went to gamestop today and the price here is not 60$ but 70$, and then you have the taxes...... thats about 80$ for a game.....

Not to mention the extra figures that sell for $8 each or 3 for $20 ... It's just too expensive to warrant a buy from me, even if it is totally awesome.

Well... I think I'm gonna give in and take it in a few minutes (I've got around 56 euros worth of vouchers and the game costs 60 for the 3DS, so I'm good ^^

Spyro was my first adventure game. They ruined him.

I never liked Spyro games, I love collectible games though. The excitement on my face when I saw all the different bits you can get for it. I didnt really care that it was a Spyro game. Infact why didnt they just make it as a new IP and take Spyro out of the equation.
Spyro fans dont like what they have done to Spyro and everybody else doesnt care whether h is in it or not.

Well, I have it and the first thing I can say so far : the package is filled to the brim with content ! It's quite impressive. Haven't launched the game just yet, but when I'm finished with my work, I'm going to go on a rampage with this game. And the figures look surprisingly good ! Really detailed and all ^^ The review will be coming soon on my site I think ^^

Unfortunately, you're going to find that many many people are going to dismiss this game purely because they don't like Spyro's design. Let them miss it; they don't deserve to play such a good game.

'Kay here's how it went down on my end.

Exactly one week after posting how they've ruined Spyro and how I'll never buy this game, I was browsing Nintendolife when one of the links led me to a Spyro fan website. It was there that I saw Dark Spyro and noticed that it was 3DS exclusive. This was at 8:45 pm.

At 8:55 pm, my car was parked outside Gamestop and I was at the counter handing over a $100 bill in exchange for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure and one figurine (Zap).

I've been playing the game and have since gotten over Spyro's new design. This game rocks. I take back everything I said about it.

Everything.

While some aren't getting it out of spite, the rest aren't getting it because of the lack of disposable income. I personally have to save for months before buying a forty dollar game. It's not that I don't want the game, its just the price of this is worth Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D combined. I wish I could do what TeeJay did, but such are the troubles of the lower lower middle lower class.

I don't have the money to throw down for it right now, but even though I am also an original Spyro Trilogy fan, doesn't mean I have bias against this. I'm looking forward to getting a chance in the future

"Finished the first world and I'm really diggin' it : the characters are good looking and the 3D effect is pretty sweet, BUT ! My only major problem is the camera, that doesn't really allow backtracking, which is kinda annoying when paths split.... But the Wario Land 4 mechanic of you explore the first part like you're on a walk and in the second half you have to race to the finish line is pretty sweet ^^

Now all Activision needs to do is reboot the Crash Bandicoot franchise and we're all set.

Years and years of crappy Spyro games from Vivendi Universal, and once Activision got their hands on the IP they turned it into something meaningful again...

Hmm, expect from Spyro and a few other (very) ugly monsters, it looks pretty good. I might consider it.
the gameplay looks like a half Psone Spyro half Action RPG, wich is good.
Out of the monsters/skylanders, i really like Zap and Sonic Boom.

Teejay, thank you for being one of the few who can admit when they're wrong. It is a fun game, and I just find it saddening that so many can't get past the design of Spyro.

There's a few quibbles I have with the game, yes, such as the aforementioned fixed camera not lending to backtracking, and the loading times/delay starting levels.

It plays a bit like an old-school platformer to me, Sackboy.

I had high hopes for this one, but at the same time, couldn't shake low expectations. I'm thrilled to say that Skylanders has surpassed both! I just picked up the 3DS Starter Pack, Prism Break, Sonic Boom, and Chop Chop. Both the multiple objectives per level and the fun of pairing-up and playing as different characters make replaying levels no less enjoyable the third time than the first. Pricey, but I'm happy with it regardless. Oh jeez, I'm gonna end up buying all of these darn things, aren''t I? ^^;;

Well, I just bought Sonic Boom and Bash, they're both very cool. I also want to get that robotic one that sackboy currently has as his avatar. I saw it selling but didn't have the money for it.

that good thing about Skylanders is that the game is interchangable, your Bro will be able to use his pieces on the 3DS version and vicer versa. Did he get any of the expansion packs and the Crypt pack looks great.
