I think a fully (polygonal... which seems to be required to say nowadays) 3D game along the lines of Colosseum and XD, but more refined. And of course an actual pokemon game, just not overhead.
I mean really, the pokemon games are all exactly the same! Take a page from FF for example
Yet Kingdom Hearts, have the same locations and bosses. Something happens to give you an excuse to play through these areas again.
Noooo! I am done with collecting cards! I wasted so much money on Pokemon, then Yu-Gi-Oh then when I said I would never buy cards again I got new Pokemon Cards...
Ruby/Sapphire could be possible. I do not see what they could really add to those games, however.
The first two series were remade partially because of the fact that they were 8-bit Game Boy games and technically incompatible with newer games making certain older pokémon almost unobtainable.
I'd rather see them put their effort in a totally new game. I think the new Black/White versions, despite being great games, could have been so much better and have a dissapointingly high amount of missed oppurtunities.
Heck, why is it even a DS game instead of a 3DS game? The fourth generation was better on nearly all accounts. The only things that make Black/White improve upon the series are the extended multiplayer, the Triple and Rotation Battles and the usual batch of new critters. This would be enough if the rest of the game wasn't slimmed down so much. Safari Zone? Complete Battle Frontier instead just the Battle Subway? Gym Leader rematches? Berry trees? Where is it, Game Freak? The game world and main quest are also a bit smaller than in, for example, HeartGold/SoulSilver.
I hope the next one is gonna be better, because for every improvement, something else has been cut down. Ang graphically, they could have done better as well. If that game will be a lame remake of a game that doesn't really need one, I will be pissed.
I amen that. Pokémon is perfect for it. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they made that. How awesome would it be that the pond down the street turns out to be full of Gyarados.

I stopped with the cards a while back, but may prefer getting back into them if they did that. I still do have Yu-Gi-Oh cards though (...except I haven't used them in a LONG time...)...those would be perfect for that as well. :3

Keep it PG-13-ish.
In the next Pokemon games i'd wanna see MAJOR improved battle visuals. I suppose that's likely to happen given the 3DS. Game Freak should really look to the DQMJ games for inspiration. That’s how Pokemon battles should have looked like on the DS (with maybe a 2.5D overworld), instead of a minor change from the GBA. I like the changes they've made with B/W, but how long did that take them?
Edit: look at the difference.. it’s sickening!
Question, Not counting recolorings, How Many Monster types are there in DQMJ?
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
