Topic: Should the 3DS be able to connect to TV's?

Today, while reading 3DS news on the site, it dawned upon me that the 3DS's top screen should be able to connect to television sets in much the same way as the PSP. On a bigger screen, the games could still look respectable, and most of the upcoming 3DS games will use the top screen to display the action anyway. True, it would not be display through a TV in 3d and the touch screen would not be visible, but who really cares about looking at an inventory if you're no playing yourself? I could also see this being an excellent to watch movies/browse pictures/listen to music with others.

What do you think?

Doubt it'll happen...probably would never use it either...

I always thought it would be cool to play portable games on the big screen (like showing friends the game or easier recording youtube vids). Though I’m not sure it would look good on the big screen since the DS has a small resolution.

A direct TV out / connection is highly unlikely given Nintendo's approach to things.

However, I'm hoping for a revival of "connectivity" in the form of inventive 3DS <--> Wii games. We need a Four Swords Adventures sequel, so why not start there?

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

That would totally eliminate the hardware's main selling point, plus there were no extraneous ports on the ones I saw so it seems like a big no, sadly.

Connect to the TV? Why? Doesn't that beat the whole purpose of a handheld?

I'd hate to see the 3DS's resolution blown up on a big screen TV. It'd probably look pretty bad.

I'd be happy to see something like this materialize.

I'd really like to seething similar to the Game Boy e-Reader on the Nintendo 3DS. Hopefully we'll get to the see the Nintendo 3DS and Wii have some sort of Nintendo 3DS/Wii inter-connectivity much like we had with the Game Boy and GameCube inter-compatibility much like that of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and The Legend of Zelda Four Swords. I can already see something similar to the Game Boy e-Reader given rise to via the Nintendo AR Games.

The TV wouldn't have to display in 3D, and they could just create a wireless receiver to plug into the TV.

Nintendo came out with that Super Gameboy that allowed you to play Gameboy on TV throught a Super Nintendo. I can't see why they can't come out with a Wii channale that connects with your DS or 3DS. It seems most games 3D aren't necessary for game play. But I think I'd only use the TV ap for the 3DS virtual console games. Because unless the 3D starts hurting my eyes out something I'm going to use the damn thing if I can. But I feel way more relax playing off a TV then a little tiny device.

I think we should be able to use it as an Wii controller if possible.

@Xkhaoz Yeah, Wii controls use infrared or something similar, but its beyond of why people complain that you can't control it too far but the controller is easily used from about 20 feet without being in front of the bar. [Fixed]

Being able to connect your 3DS to a TV would be great only for watching movies and browsing the internet (Youtube!). I guess it would be up to the consumer to decide whether it's worth the money or not. Nintendo would definitely never come out with an accessory for that, but maybe a 3rd party wireless or wired accessory could happen.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I'd rather see something that allows you to connect a Blu-ray player to the 3DS so that you can watch 3D Blu-rays on the 3DS screen (in case the number of 3D movies released specifically for the 3DS turns out to be dismal or people would rather buy 3D movies in Blu-ray format). If the Wii successor is Blu-ray, that would be pretty cool if it allowed you to do this.

Like being able to use a wireless USB keyboard and mouse on an Wii.

Nintendo will never do this. I imagine the PSP2 might, which would be awesome if the rumours of it's power is any indication, but Nintendo likes to keep it's handhelds and consoles separate.

Plus even though the 3DS is more powerful than the DS it'd probably still look like poo on a TV. I mean plug a PSP into a TV. EWWWWWW!

It's not because Wii has Netflix and Internet Channel
