Topic: Should Nintendo's next handheld have 3D?

I use the 3D about 1/3 of the time, but i feel the next handheld should focus on a new gimmick other than 3D. The 3D is great, but it would just increase production costs, especially if the next handheld has new features that already require an increase. And to the people who think mobile games will overshadow handheld consoles....no. If given the option, no one would prefer a shallow iPhone game over Mario 3D Land or Luigi's Mansion. You pay for the experience. When you pay $.99, you're not getting much of one. Handheld consoles will still thrive

So many people keep saying 3D is a gimmick that nobody cares about now. Meanwhile, for the last five years (since Avatar came out) dozens of movies have been released in 3D and the 3D sales continue to be huge. Some movies have only been profitable /because/ of their 3D. It's not a passing fad like it has been in decades past (no matter how much some of you really, really want it to be) because the technology has greatly improved...and continues to improve.

People that use the 2ds as argument for why 3D will be dropped need to be reported for being stupid on purpose, 2DS was made because people were complaining left and right, "OHHHHHHHH I DON'T WAN'T MY 6 YEAR OLD TO RUIN HIS DEAR EYES" "3D Is such a waste of money I never used 3D in my life, it gives me such a headache ugh like omg rude of Nintendo much?" Nintendo saw a whole bunch of this cr@p and made to 2DS to shut everyone the duck up with the complaints if Nintendo was done with the 3D they'd stop making 3D games (AND NO POKÉMON X AND Y AND ORAS DON'T COUNT CAUSE THEY GET POINTS FOR TRYING), sheesh when we had the Gameboy advanced was there ever any questions of "Well gee will Nintendos next handheld have a colored screen or shoulder buttons?" And I'm pretty sure everyone knew the dual screens were staying when we had the DS why is it so difficult to comprehend that 3D is here to stay and be improved on?

i think some people are mad that they can not see 3D or get headaches from it or are too stupid to hold a handheld properly and therefore the angle is off. they actually want to experience 3D but they are mad that they cant and maybe never can.

I see 3D fine, but I just choose not to use it since it's a pretty useless feature that just sucks down the battery life.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

I can't focus the 3D properly, but even after those years I still didn't give up on trying it, sometimes I get the sweet spot but if I move a milimeter or if there's any change in the room's lighting I lose instantly(I blame my glasses, but I'm not too sure anymore)

I'm actually quite surprised with this. Only because the graphics look much crisper in 3d. They're so washed out and drab in 2d. Looks barely better then a ds that way. Just my preference I guess.

No 3D! Its a great idea but how many people really use the feature? I am all for a new gen DS, (totally love the DS, never leave home without it) but let's work on display, battery life and screen size. 😜

Enough to cause a backlash if it was removed. Just look at how divided the replies are on this thread.

It's also important to note the 2DS relatively low popularity in comparison to the 3DS. Despite a lower price point, it was outsold by the 3DS at a rate of about 3:1 last holiday season.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

In my opinion the 2DS is a knock off, its like buying a Gucci purse in China Town. The 3Ds is great I am just saying that the 3D part shouldn't be the main feature if/when a newer gen comes out.

For me I just love the fact that you can fold the 3DS. I hate the 3D, it gives me eye twitches...no joke T_T, but I'm willing to pay more for the superior design because you can just turn the 3D off anyway. Though the 3DS might still sell better no matter what, a better design would probably make for better sales for the 2DS. I would have GLADLY bought a 2DS over a 3DS if only they had a better design.

For the next handheld system I want them to do away with the 3d, add a second analog pad, and lose the bottom screen all together. Oh and it has to be a high res screen from the latest tech. Boy that sound familiar. Wonder if it will sell well?
