Topic: Should Nintendo release download cards for specific titles?

Basically as well as offering eshop credit in various amounts in shops, should they also offer cards with a download code for certain titles?
They're already having mario/zelda/etc themed cash cards.

You can't purchase a game directly from the eshop with your credit card, you must top it up (and by a minimum amount..) leaving credit leftover in a lot of cases! This would solve that problem.
Also the general public may not realise there's a shop on the 3DS and that you can download titles. The sort of people who just buy games in store/etc. For choice titles they could have cards with the artwork of the title on them. Each card giving a specific download or whatever
Would also help if they wanted to promote certain eshop titles via the usual 3DS ads or so on
and impulse buys....might be picking up a retail title, notice one of these download cards....then decide to buy it on a whim!

Could work. I know something similar is done on the Wii Shop Channel - purchase a game by alternative means then receive a Download Ticket to download the game to your Wii console. I suppose something similar could be done for Nintendo eShop.

Such cards wouldn't cost much either, so perhaps the option for cards allowing, for argument's sake, three Game Boy titles of your choice to be downloaded could work as well. Or similar for Nintendo DSiWare.

Exactly. The card's themselves have no value until activated at the counter so it'd just be the cost of the cardboard/production as a possible negative for nintendo
They do sell some individual titles on their website, gives you a download ticket which you then input into your wii.

Could also offer bonuses like "pre-order Kid Icarus and get a bonus download of the NES title when you pick it up"
