Topic: Should Nintendo Join The Bandwagon Of Streaming Service?

Nowadays it seems that every company is doing a Streaming Service for their games & I was wondering if you guys think Nintendo should do the same with there games? So my question to you guys is should they join "Yes" Or "No" (Explain). Personally I think they should, I mean they do have a lot of games to offer. So why shouldn't they. If the price is right.

For me personally, I wouldn't want to stream a game. Considering my video services like Netflix and Amazon occasionally freeze and load, how will this affect my gameplay? I'd rather play a game without the constant worry for my internet going out.

I did forget to put this in, I do have Mix feelings on them making a streaming service but they should also do what EA did with EA Access. You pay a monthly fee to play games.

If the US wasn't so backwards on internet....sure, fine by me. But a majority of us face slow internet speeds and, more importantly, data caps that will render the service useless.

I prefer it the way it is now. You buy a game, you get to keep it, and if it is physical, you can lend, borrow, trade or sell them. Streaming is a service for people and countries with awesome internet connections.

But this has a benefit: it is kind of a rental service, where you could try games and then if you like them you buy them.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

No, absolutely not. The load of servers required for such a service is not only insane, but also completely unjustifiable. It's a convenient junk idea of the "it's new so it's good" variety that completely disregards moderation in any sensible way and blinds the average consumer with it's shiny description. If anything, game streaming is one of the most wasteful abuses of servers in recent history.
And just to add that: it's a perfect way of controlling the consumer. The latest waste of resources for a DRM substitute.

So no, I'm thinking Nintendo should focus on gaming instead of pointless convenience nobody asks for. It's a terrible idea, and I hope those who offer such services will choke on it. Slowly.

I get your point but you don't have to be cruel and let me tell you something. I don't like the idea as much as you do. But if I may remind you we're going to an age where everything is cloud & therefore "Streaming" is highly likely. If Sony & EA are doing it don't be surprised if others do the same including Nintendo. WELCOME TO THE FUTURE

I don't like the idea of Streaming Games. I would always rather have them on my system to run it. So personally Nintendo I wouldn't care if Nintendo did this, as long as it doesn't affect my ability to play games the way I want. Should Nintendo do it for business reasons? Maybe... I don't think streaming is that important to people. A subscription might get some people but I like to own my media. If I watch a good movie on Netflix I buy it. Netflix has basically replaced my normal TV, so instead of channel surfing for hours I scroll through Netflix for hours. So there are benefits and negatives, but I will not be interested in Streaming services no matter who does it.

I might be interested in EA's subscription thing if it comes to Origin but still unlikely

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.

Your right on that part but Nintendo should do what EA did.

Don't watch if swearing offends you... or if you're dutch.

I'm sorry, it had to be done.

Streaming games are terrible idea, has no one learned anything from On Live? (Is that still even going?)

Nope and I'm pretty sure Playstation Now will fail if Sony doesn't change things around.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Streaming Service for the 3DS would be an even worst idea (just realized this is in the 3DS forums)

So after dipping my toes in Playstation Now, I thought about Nintendo,......and I say absolutely Nintendo should, but only in regards to the VC

I'm not sure the tech is their yet to make Playstation Now an entirely satisfying experience (lower res, some frame rate hiccups), but man, would streaming work great for anything from the NES to the Gamecube era.....which aren't as taxing as your circa 2012 PS3 title, etc.

.......and in regards to classic and retro Nintendo games, man, that would be a nice fit for a subscription payment method. Rent for a couple hours to 90 days, etc. you decide.

Of course make this service only available on Nintendo consoles and platforms, it's part of the bait after all......but I do honestly believe this would be a much smarter way to run the VC.

I don't want a streaming service. My internet connection wouldn't support it for one thing. But I do like being able to rent a game to try it out. But that's what Gamefly is for. Well in Canada it's called game access.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
