Topic: Should I wait for the "New 3ds"?

I've never had a portable since PSP & DS, and I'm definitly going for an XL (my sis has an DSi XL, and it's so great to hold), but should I buy a 3ds XL now or wait for the New 3ds XL?
I have a Wii U btw.

I'm a Danish gamer, but I mostly play on Nintendo hardware. I love gaming local co-op, and playing Mario Kart with my cousin (she's owning me btw!)
My favourite game franchises are Super Smash Bros. & Sly Cooper.

Well, since you live in Europe, the wait shouldn't be too long anyway. You can also order an Australian one right now.

Yeah since you're in Europe you should wait. Today's whole Club Nintendo EU N3DS thing implies the general launch of N3DS in Europe isn't too far away. (Probably mid-Feb. with MH 4 U.) And even then since you're in Europe you can import from Austrailia if you so choose.

Well, I've never used a 3ds before, does anyone have a normal 3ds and if so, do you find it too small?

There's no Nintendo Club in Nordic countries (including my one, Denmark), will that effect the launch of it?

Do you own a normal 3ds (not xl) and if so, do you find it small or fitting?

Probably not. There will most likely be a Nintendo Direct soon announcing full launch details.

The "small" New 3DS has bigger screens than the Classic 3DS and 2DS models, and it can be customized with faceplates.

The New XL is mostly the same as the current one, size and customization wise.

Does any of you guys know or believe, that the normal-sized 3ds is too small?

That's the one I'm getting, so no I don't. I feel the standard New model strikes the balances of size/ergonomics vs pocketability/portabily and screen size vs image quality.

I own both, regular 3ds's and several 3dsxl. My first one was a regular, cosmo black 3ds, which I rapidly upgraded to a 3dsxl, due to the small size of the screens. Having said that, the new 3ds sports a bigger screen (don't know how much big is) than the old 3ds. But for me, a really big guy, at 6'3" and 350 pounds, the basic 3ds was too small for my hands.

The old one was 134 mm wide and the new one is 142 mm, don't know about screen dimensions though.

Wait.

I have a new 3DS (being Australian), and it's a thing of beauty! The regular size is fine, the screen is a bit bigger than the OG 3DS, but if you want to play stuff like Monster Hunter, Xenoblade and Smash down the line...you might want the bigger screen (it's not THAT much bigger, but for those games that take in wide vistas, you'll get to see more in detail, so you know...) I've seen the n3DS XL (blue) in action. and I think you would regret buying the older model right now (unless you've got money to burn!). Nintendo have also said that the new 3DS is getting exclusive games starting with Xenoblade Chronicles, so that's something else to consider. But really, you'll definitely want a 'new' 3DS XL when you get your hands on one. Trust me
