Topic: Should I get a 3DS?

Hey! I am new to this site, I never really post anything here but recently I have started to get interested in Nintendo, the community seems really nice and plus I would like to meet new people in the process of getting a 3DS, I am an Xbox player, have been since 2003 and I am getting pretty bored of First Person Shooters, there all the same and everyone is so angry on Xbox if you know what I mean?

Anyway, is the 3DS worth it? I have the DS Lite but never use it, but the 3DS XL looks really nice, games like Animal Crossing and Pokemon X & Y look really nice! I like to just relax and chill! I am a massive gamer, like a HUGE GAMER! And with an Xbox, its not exactly easy to take everywhere with you.
But yeah! Please let me know your thoughts!

PS: Please let me know your DS Friend Codes so I can add you if I get one!

Thanks

Animal Crossing and Pokemon alone will make your investment more than worth it. There's also two Harvest Moon games if you want somthing to chill with, which you won't find on the Xbox (though they do have those Kefling games that are pretty fun). If those sound good to you and you like the idea of being able to take it anywhere, I can't see why not. Keep a vigilant eye out for sales this holiday season. I'm sure you could get a cool bundle for a nice price.

Oh, okay thank you! I miss just playing my DS Lite or night and day so that is the main reason I want a 3DS XL!
So thank you :3

Yeah if you're interested in Pokémon and Animal Crossing, you're good to go! If you ever get tired of those, the 3DS has an amazing library going - and it's only getting better! Now is a good time to jump in.

Agreed! Though I must ask, is there a "Nintendo Store" to download full games?
If so which is cheaper, to buy the game in-store or download it!

@SoullessOnyx: The 3DS (and Wii U, for that matter) has what's called the Nintendo eShop; which has full retail games available for download plus a plethora of download-only titles. Generally, downloaded retail games cost the same as physical copies; so it's up to you whether you want a game card or not. The only two games I know of that are cheaper to download than go physical are Resident Evil Revelations and Tetris Axis.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a good choice for downloading; that's the only retail game that I've downloaded so far. The convenience is worth it, IMO.

Ufff..... If you come to a dedicated Nintendo site and ask if you should purchase a 3ds, what do you think we'll say? no? Jeez, AT LEAST 20+ of threads excactly like this have been made.

The 3ds is amazing, with a wide variety of fun games to choose from.

@Gioku Oh nice! You see on Xbox Live they sell there downloadable games for like £59.99 were as I can go into store and get it for £10 less or even sometimes £20 less, but yeah! I look forward to getting a 3DS and playing its great games and hopefully meeting new people!

I've dabbled in Nintendo games like Pokemon before, but could never really get into them. Now the time seemed right to try again.
I picked up a 3DSXL and Wii U just over a week ago. Since then I've put 36 hours into Pokemon Y, as well as a few in Animal Crossing and Mario 3D Land.
I'm having fun...Lots of fun...Maybe I'm having too much fun! I don't think I've switched my 360 on since I went Nintendo mad. Even my PS3 only gets a few hours for GTA on beer night.
As for eShop - well Animal Crossing was £35 compared to £27-ish retail. I think the eShop has frequent sales, but I've not really been around long enough to see what kind of bargains can be had.
Oh...I did get a 3DS last year, but found the screen a bit small for prolonged gaming with my ageing eyes, so I sold it. The 3DSXL screen is lovely!
You should definitely get one. After the photo-realisticishness of 'Sonysoft' consoles, the Nintendo blasts of colour just scream FUN TIMES

(I am not in anyway anti-Microsoft or Sony. I've been gaming longer that I care to remember and have owned most consoles since PS1 and have had countless hours of fun in GTA, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Elder Scrolls, etc, etc but I have become bored and X1/PS4 have nothing to interest me at the moment. Hence my decision to come back to Nintendo).

Of course you should get a 3DS. Nintendo and other companies seem to support it more than Wii and Wii U. There's a plethora of good games for the 3DS, which is why I bought it. I also bought it for the convenience of not needing a TV, controllers, sensor bars, etc.

Since I got mine very recently, I don't have many friends on it. In fact, I only have one right now, so you should add me: 3797-7123-1244

I've mostly been playing Pokemon Y and Zelda Spirit Tracks recently. I have a few other games, and the one game I strongly recommend besides Pokemon and Animal Crossing is Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. If you like platformers, or even if you don't like platformers, you should get this game. It's for sure one of the best platformers made in recent years.

I would, in fact, I am - I've played a 3DS quite some times on my sister's 3DS but never had my own, but I am going to invest in one in light of X/Y and what not. It is a really good system and I recommend it. There is also a ton of great games to play, such as Super Mario 3D Land.
It also has the Virtual Console - a feature in which you can download various classic games, mainly on handhelds and nes, so if there was any Game Boy games you used to enjoy as a child you could get it on 3DS

get one already, the only people who will dislike it are "FPS only" players that will have ZERO games in their 3DS at the moment.

Games on the E-shop cost about £39.99, while in the shops or online they normally only cost £30-£35.
Plus, Nintendo doesn't have an account system with downloaded titles so if your 3DS break that's it, you can't get them back.

As for games, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Fire Emblem: Awakening are great!
Kid Icarus is a fast paced on rail shooter / action game that has online multiplayer.
Fire Emblem is a strategy RPG, probably the best game in the franchise in my opinion.

@GuSilverFlame: And even those guys will have Cult County and Ironfall in the coming year! So there truly will be something for everyone on the system.
