Topic: Should I buy a refurbished 2DS?

I've been mooching my brothers 3DS XL for a couple weeks to play Pokémon X and Fire Emblem: Awakening but with Omega Ruby coming soon it's time for me to bite the bullet and get my own thing. I was about to buy a refurbished 2DS before the New 3DS, or whatever Nintendo decides to call it in the west, was revealed so now I don't know if I should just go ahead and get a 2DS (Gamestop is selling them now for $90 plus free shipping) or wait.

I'd wait for the New 3DS.

The New 3DS won't be available in the west this year. Omega Ruby will be. I guess that should be your deciding factor. Do you want to wait a year to play it or do you want to pay $90 for something you plan on replacing?

God knows when the new system is even going to be released in the West. Just get a 3DS/2DS now and then sell it or something when the new one comes out.

$90 waste of money, Gamestop and refurbish really don't belong in the same sentence. They just flip stuff and going by enough history I've seen online for years now, they don't thoroughly test stuff either and it's not just systems but accessories (controllers, etc) too. Save the $90, hold your patience for like 6-9 months and get what really will get the job done right you know will work and if it isn't can be returned and is warrantied a year.

You can get a refurbished 2DS from Nintendo for $90. I would trust Nintendo over GameStop. The 2DS is not a bad system. I have 2 co-workers that have it and it is kinda nice. We have no idea when the New3DS is coming and if there aren't any exclusives you want right away then there isn't much reason to wait for the New3DS

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

After reading people's comments I think I'm going to hold off a little longer before getting one. If my brother wants his 3DS back he can fight me for it.

Doesn't make sense to get the 2ds with the newer 3ds coming out in a few months.

If it was me I'd wait, However Pokemon games come with limited edition downloadable pokemon.. so if your a huge pokemon fan and want to have them all. get the 2ds or which ever recommendations people have provided, other then that it would be best to wait.

Just wait til a decent bundle with a good pre-installed (Pokemon?) game comes along. That way you save the cost of the game and spend it on the console.
