@GMB-001: I don't think anyone said it was hard for the whole length of the game just the beginning part is. Just till you get out of that first area then it becomes a lot easier. I'll admit I'm stuck hardcore on one of the later bosses and just can't seem to beat him. I'm told i got the hardest of the paths.
@The__Goomba: ''You guys''? If you're implying that I'm Japanese, Then you're sadly mistaken, I'm half Malaysian half Omani.. I have played the American version of the game, just like you guys and I still found it to be easy.
@spoony_tech I found the beginning part to be the easiest part in the main game, tbh.. The hardest part were the side quests in the later part of the game, Especially the ones were you had to defeat Beelzebub or collect enough money to open the last and best shop in the game. Which path are you on? I have finished all of them except the neutral one, I'll do it right after I complete DDS.
The game is easy, you just have to know which demons to recruit and fuse, as well as which abilities to give them. After that, just look up a walkthrough to know which demons are on the dungeon you want to go, and make sure your team and skills can deal with them, That's pretty much it.
I know your malaysian,I checked your profile,I assumed Malaysia got the same games as Japan like the way all Europeans get the same games,Sorry if I came off racist believe me as a minority myself its the last thing I am.
@The__Goomba: It's ok, I know your intention were good because I got that mistake all the time where people see my profile and see me talking about Japanese games so they automatically assume that I'm Japanese myself lol.. Plus, we do actually have lots of Japanese stuff sold locally, I have two Japanese games myself, and the local store is selling Japanese Amiibos lol
@Spoony_Tech: Yeah, Beelzebub was tough as nails, but there's an easy way out; If this is your first playthrough, Just give up on that mission and finish the game. Start a second playthrough on another path, and all your levels, money, demons etc.. will carry over there. by the time you're on the final part of the second playthrough, you will be level 99 with access to level 90+ demons like ashura, get them, train them to level 99 and get the best abilities possible like Megidolaon and debilitate as well and use all your licences to increase your MC's stats, and you should beat him.
@GMB-001: I see what you're saying but I really want to stay the course I'm on. I haven't played it in forever though but I do need one of those abilities to help as I just get destroyed towards the end when he reduces all my hit points to 1.
Oh and TwilightAngel is right, it's not optional as it's part of the path I have to do. It's one of many trials I must do.
@Spoony_Tech: @twilightangel I never knew that he was a main quest in neutral lol.. And you got the neutral path on your first playthrough, what bad luck! >.<
Well, In that case, the only advise I can give you is grind as hell, try to get the high-tier spells like Cold World or Megidolaon.. Have you unlocked the final store with the insanely expensive equips? They're extremely expensive, and you have to spend one million just to unlock the store itself if I'm not mistaken, but the stuff there will really help too..
All right, I haven't really posted anything on this forum but I wanted to ask somebody a question about the Neutral route. Well, more just a reassurance that it is still possible to get the neutral route. Now I have gotten to the point where Tayama wants me to do things for him in the story. So far, I've somehow managed to get on Neutral route, (which is +8 -8) and I'd like to keep a save file so I can do the Law route, the Chaos Route, and then finish with the Neutral Route.
Now I'd like to make sure that I am indeed doing my math correctly and that it is correct in general. My next choice would give me a -1 or +5. So if I choose the -1 choice, would I drop to +7 -9, or is the math weirder than that? If the math I am doing is correct, then I have mapped out which choices I need to do to get to -2 -18 (this is choosing the -10 choice before the alignment).
Now I'd also like to know if there are any other required Challenge quests affect the alignment points. I still have the Hunter Tournament Prelims, Finals, Banquet of Flames, and Demon-Haunted Man quests. Doing these quests and choosing all Law options would give me a +10, (since I can spare the 4 hunters in both the Prelims and Finals to get +8 and +2 from the other quests) so I can cancel out the final -10 choice and get back to +8 -8. Are there any other required challenge quests that would affect my alignment just from doing them? If not, then I am all set for a neutral run.
If anyone knows if I am doing this right, I would love to know. I still have to do a Law and Chaos route before I consider this but I'd like to make sure I can still do it so my second save file is perfectly set so I can run these choices and get Neutral.
Hunting down the Fiends is easily one of the most frustrating/tedious things I've been faced with in an RPG, right up there with getting the scale drops from the dragons in the original Etrian Odyssey. At least making these guys respawn is far more mindless, I guess. I just keep reloading my save again and again while watching a show or something. I'm not wasting any time per se which is cool, but still, screw that 1 in 256 chance, that's just ridiculous. Sigh.
Thanks for reminding me I still haven't beat this yet either.....
What do I have 2 months before Final comes out. What's funny is in 2013 we got Fire Emblem Awakening, M&L Dream Team, Bravely Default, and this and the only one I beat was a couple months ago in Dream Team. What are the odds we will see EO V this year too. Well at least I beat IV lol.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I'm wrapping up my second playthrough - out of four in order to see all the endings, - but there's so much to do yet when it comes to completing the Compendium that I'm not confident I'll be done before Apocalypse, yeah.
I mean, I most likely would if I focused on it alone, but my patience only gets me so far. They really went gung-ho about the nearly-impossible-to-get demons with this game. It'd be one thing if the Fiends were the only bunch like that, but having demons that are only achievable via fusion accidents as well is pretty freaking insane.
At least it's good beyond those annoying roadblocks for completionists, heh.
I wanted to get the neutral and law endings before Apocalypse came out, but I don't think that's going to happen. It's fine: just gives the game replay value down the road.
I got up to 4 defeated Fiends out of 7 yesterday. Chemtrail happened to be the toughest one to find - I watched the entirety of Dark Knight Rises while attempting to make it spawn, lol. It was also the toughest Fiend battle so far for me contrary to what the Compendium guide I'm following suggested, but darn, was it a fun one.
Hopefully the fusion accident demons won't be this much trouble when I get around to that.
Hi guys, so I tried Shin Megami Tensei IV. It is my first game in the series. And I don't get "Demon Fusion". What's the point? I am on level 7 and have 5 or 6 demons in my possession. What is the point to fuse demon on level 6 with 130 HP and 35 mana with another demon on level 6 with 90 HP and 60 mana and in result to get demon below these stats... something like 67 HP and 42 mana?? Why should I do that? It makes me weaker. I thought that by fusing 2 demons I will get something stronger than that. Like... 140 HP and 70 mana...
A strong man doesn't need to read the future... He makes his own.
@El_Scorpio With demon fusing you get new abilities. Those abilities can be very valuable later on even if the demon seems weaker. When I fuse I rarely go back levels but equal levels and higher are what I do. As you level up you will be able to fuse demon at your level or one above your level I believe. It's been a while. It sounds like you dont need to worry about it just yet but each time you level up check to see what's on offer. Plus the demons you have only level and learn new abilities for so long and you have to fuse them to get stronger.
The more fusions you have towards the end of the game the more options you have to make the strongest demons. If you dont have the right combinations to fuse certain ones later on you will have to find them again or buy them if you register them.
Last thing I thought of, once your demons stop learning new abilities it's time for them to go.
