Topic: SDXC

Anyone hear anything about Nintendo's plans for SDXC cards? I have lots of room on my SDHC card right now but I've used a lot of space considering I haven't owned my 3DS for even a year yet. I'll max it out some time in 2012 I think.

You'll max out a 32 SDHC Card that soon? LOL, I don't think so. If you do, just buy another one.

Why waste your time trolling around? Has anyone heard anything about plans for SDXC?

Thanks. It's going to become an issue sometime soon. With lots of games, 3D pictures, now videos and who knows what's to come (full store shelve 3DS games available on the eshop?) it's going to become important.

According to the 3DS manual a maximum of 3000 photos can be saved to an SD card, and it has not yet been established how many items can be fit onto the 3DS menu screen - it could well have the same limit of 240 spaces that the Wii SD card menu has, so it is little early to predict future memory capacity needs.

32GB is plenty for now. Unless Nintendo puts out 1GB games on eShop, there should be no worry of filling up the SD card.

i'm assuming apollo also has music,photos, and video on his 3DS.

No word on SDXC. I personally see my self using a 32GB SDHC card. I have a Phone/Tablet with cloud storage for music and a Camera for Photos.

That's a fair assumption and thank you for approaching this thread with maturity. I have a 32GB card in my system. Bought it before the summer and love it but it will run out if I continue to use the 3DS as a multipurpose device.

To everyone suggesting that I just buy another card, thanks but I didn't ask for advice and that option is pretty obvious, isn't it?

I'd say wait till GDC that's when Nintendo usually makes these type of announcements.

Sorry about the necro but I would like to express interest in this actually...

SDXC cards running version 3.0 have the ability to work in SDHC card slots provided they are formatted from exFAT (the proprietary formatting type) to FAT32. (I know this because the 64GB Sandisk SDXC works in the Pandora once it has been formatted properly)

If anyone out there has a 3DS and a SDXC card I would appreciate it if you took the time to test this out and report back the details.

I've been using a 16GB card in my 3DS and so far there's plenty of space left.
Don't think I'm gonna run into problems any time soon, and if I do then I'll just delete stuff I no longer need or upgrade to a 32 GB card, and I'm sure that'll last me a long time.

My puny 8 GB card in my Wii still has tons of space left, and I have about 30 VC and WiiWare games, in addition to the Nintendo Channel, Netflix, Check Mii Out Channel, and Everybody Votes Channel.

Same thing with my 3DS, but I have a lot more stuff on there.

I have used more than 23 GB on my 32GB SDHC card on my 3DS! It's mainly because of my MP3's and of course all my 3DS Downloads! While I'm in no hurry yet, it will be nice if Nintendo can update to SDXC one day!

My bundled 2 GB card is almost full, so I'll need to upgrade to an 8 GB one. 32 GB is overkill.
