Topic: Screen protectors (the best and the worst)

Well I wasn't sure if there was a topic about this, so I decided to make one.

Anyway, I was wondering what your thoughts were about screen protectors and which ones would you consider the best or the worst.
The reason? Some people think the 3DS needs them, I agree.

But I don't want to pick up a set that could either: A, Ruin the 3D effect. B, Not fit correctly (I'm looking at you PowerA) or C, That are made cheaply and rip while trying to apply them.

So in other words, which set would you recommend? (I'm having to send my 3DS in because of the scratches, so I don't want the same mistake agian.)

so far:

The Good
Hori
Zagg (maybe, still awating confirmation)
CTA
Icon

The Bad
PowerA(Though they can work, but the majority end up ripping or not fitting correctly)
BigBen

Cheers

The Hori ones work great for me. I have them for the 3DS, the XL and the Lite. The ones for the 3DS are much easier to apply.

ok so so far we know.

The Good:
Hori (I too have heard good things about this brand)

and

The Bad:
PowerA
BigBen

I also have heard good things about ZAGG (AKA invisible shield) Screen protectors... and they make ones that cover the entire 3DS itself. link: http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/nintendo-3ds-cases-screen...

i'm interested in this too, since i just got my 3ds out of the box today and have already had to wipe the screen a bunch of times. i'm also paranoid about the marks being left on the top screen by the bottom screen's bevel. does a good protector change the picture in any noticeable way?

That's about the same story with me (The thing is a dust magnet!) and with the bottom marks being left on the top, can't give any confirmation if the screen protectors would prevent this but it is the main reason that I am getting a set.

I'm actually in the process of sending my 3DS to nintendo because of that problem, once I get it back I will apply whatever screen protector gets the most votes.

and as for changing the picture, I didn't notice any change with the PowerA ones (but they were utter crap) and I've read the Hori ones leave a purple tint on the top screen, but that only shows up if you have your 3DS turned off and have sunlight directly pointed at the screen (and if you know anyone who actually plays with their 3DS turned off, I would like to meet him lol)

I bought the Nintendo licensed 3DS starter bundle from Walmart (it comes with styluses, screen protector, ect) , it seemed like it would work fine until I tried to pull the outside placement sticker off, the paper ended up sticking to the screen protector and pretty much ruined it so I ended up taking off the protector in it.

i got the nintendo licensed starter pack.

the screen protectors didnt failed me. but be warned, those things are a pain to install. be meticulous in excess, undust meticulously in excess, clean everything in excess.
i didnt have problem with the lower screen, but the top screen made me waste 1 of the 2 protectors i had. even a tiny, very VERY tiny dust will make a damn bubble.

cant warn you enough, ensure it is top clean, in superior way. you dont want a bubble. its nasty, and trust me; when you play and you see that bubble on the screen, you keep on focusing on it, no matter what.

I use the ones that came in the CTA Ultimate pack, they work fine for me, I have not had a problem.

I bought the Icon screen protector 2 pack. Both protectors went on easy, and it even came with smoothing card to remove the air bubbles. They've worked great for me so far, and I have a back up set just in case something should happen.

What are the ones that people are mentioning about the ones that just cover the entire 3DS? I'm so sick of messing with these stupid protectors and as long as the ones that cover the entire thing doesn't make it look like its wrapped in plastic then i might give it a go.

@Spiceyduck Those would be the ones made by PowerA my friend and the ones I dislike the most.

@Samholy those wouldn't happen to be the PowerA ones by Nintendo would they? If so I'm glad they worked for someone

@jdkipfer (I like that screen name haha) never heard of the CTA ones, looks like a sweet pack though.

@Wildvine53 Icon looks like a pretty good brand, and the fact it came with two sets is a bonus (especially for people who are new to the whole Screen Protector thing)

and @Kainard to my knowledge I know that Zagg and Hori both cover the whole upper screen, and the touch screen (although with Zagg you can get your entire 3DS covered.)
