Does anyone bother with screen protectors or crystal protection cases?

I was going to buy screen protectors, but doesn't this ruin the 3DS effect/ And is there very little point?

I intend on using a Nintendo Sock I got with the stars points.

I use screen protectors. I does not affect the 3D effect in any way if you put it on the top screen. (At least not with mine)

I usually just bother putting the screen protector on the bottom screen. That's where it matters, the top screen isn't all that likely to get scratched.

If you're playing touchscreen heavy games it's good to get one.
Also it doesn't ruin the 3D effect on mine either.

Do you use official Nintendo protectors, or will any do?

What cases are you guys using?

Nah, I just bought some cheap 3rd party protectors made to fit the system. Works just fine.

I'm using a old MadCats case I bought for my DS Lite a long time ago. Works with the 3DS as well. I recently got a 3DS XL though and that does not fit in that case.. So I might have to buy a new one at some point.

Not sure which ones to get. Some are really expensive. I want one to cover the entire top part of the screen.

Here's the ones I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W5LLNY/ref=oh_details_o0...

Topscreen cover covers the entire top, and the bottom one does just the touchscreen. Be warned though that the top screen protector is really hard to get on exactly, it's a perfect fit and is really, really hard to get on if you're impatient since you'll be encountering lint and what not and that definitely does disrupt the view. Also the cloths it comes with don't work at all so be sure to have one handy. It's a nice deal for 3 of them, but I think it's because you'll screw up on your first 2 times...

There's also this one: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Screen-Protective-Filter/d...
I've heard it's really easy to apply these and they're licensed by Nintendo. Again, apparently the cloth is comes with suck so have a microfiber cloth for yourself. Also, most people note that the top screen protector has a purple tint to it.

i have the Hori screen protectors on my 3DS and I love them. I have a crystal case on my 3DS too, i got with my kingdom hearts game and it protects really well. I also have the Mario one from pdp and it adds a little weight to the 3DS so I prefer my KH one

Oh my god - it's been a nightmare trying to fit the full screen ones.

Bought a generic cheap pair, and the top screen ones are impossible to fit!

Is there a brand that actually fits the whole top screen easily? The bubble thing is easy, but it's actually fitting the top screen ones!

My experience:

Last year when I got my 3DS, I got a small scratch on my top screen. It was more like an opaque pixel-sized mark. It was caused by an extremely tight case with an elastic band. The case was not even for the 3DS but for the DS - too small for my console. I think that sand got caught between the screens, while the elastic of the case pressed the two screens too tight.

I put on a screen protector on the top screen. It made the screen slightly yellowish. After a while, I took off the screen protector. No further scratches appeared. So in my opinion no protectors are necessary, as long as you don't carry the console in a very tight pocket or case.

Thanks but I don't want to take the risk! It's just so fiddly to apply one to the entire top screen. The bottom screen was fairly easy.

i don't know lol i bought that 3DS second hand so somebody had already put it on. although i can never get no bubbles on mine but it doesn't really bother me that much.

I've seen some people saying they trimmed the sides of the full top screen protectors to make it easier to apply, but I'd think that you would have to be pretty good at cutting straight to do that. Maybe a paper cutter would work?

I tried trimming it in the end but by the time I'd done that, the protector was covered in dust and it was ruined.

I have screen protectors on both screens and they work wonderfully. As for the case, my friend has a nerf case and he pegged it against a wall and it was spotless. I have a crystal armor case which is lightweight and gets the job done as long as I'm careful

Which screen protectors did you use? Top screen is a full one?

There are some Hori ones that are apparently really easy to apply, but pretty expensive for what they are!

I believe I have Hori ones. Top screen is indeed a full one. Just be careful applying them.

They are expensive though. Just wondering if there's actually any point in a screen protector.
