for 3DS I would say it really depends on what games you will be getting, most of my games did not make great use of the touch screen, so mine lasted the whole life of the system with no issue, my oldest daughter loves touch games and in three years it looked like the floor of an ice skating rink, so it is something you have to judge for yourself

I just feel like it's a hassle. I like the look and feel of smooth glass

Idk I just wanted to ask if anyone had problems, I had a 3ds in the past and I might get a new one and I always hated looking at my crappily done screen protector. my original ds didnt have one.

I googled and I am mainly worried about the way it closes since the top and bottom screen dont match.. if u clamp it closed u think their'd be any problems over time? I dont use a stylus btw so cant scratch it that way

With some of the older models, specially the original 3DS, the top screen DID get scratched over time from the bottom screen. So with those a screen protector was a must... They got better at designing them however...

If you absolutely worry about it though, the 2DS models most certainly don't have that problem...

In the case of the 2DS XL, the entire top screen is surrounded by a raised rim that prevents it from touching the bottom half, and the bottom half itself has no raised elements at all (besides the buttons and sticks), so it's just impossible for it to damage the top screen.

With the regular 2DS... It should be obvious.
