Honestly the biggest problem with the game is when you want to do something in specific, such as grow a red crystal or get a monster drop, and the game's rng decides it doesn't want you to have fun/there's nothing else interesting to do while you wait. I finally got my avatar married sometime during the 3rd story arc when I was stuck in the story and had most of the interesting things done with the game already. I wasted so much time just waiting for the baby. And the worst part is, I feel too bad skipping festivals and not watering my plants.
tl:dr, eventually it became work to get things done in that game, and there just wasn't enough payoff.
Great game, but way too much time investment, especially when it starts to slow down.
Fun fact though. I got most of the way through Maya Road before the story arc takes you through there, so when I got to that point in the story I had to do the whole thing all over again.

I want to get this game soon but I'm on the fence about when would be a good time. If it has any of the same kind effect that Harvest Moon DS (the only one of these type of games I've played) had on me than I know it's pretty much gonna be all I play for a month or so. I'm sort of regretting that impulse Triple Deluxe purchase because I don't even want to take Theatrhythm out of the slot. X-D

I've had weird stuff happen with forging, like somehow I got a lvl50 sword with lvl10 stats and vice versa. Honestly it confuses me; there are so many hidden details.

@YvoCaro Yep! Pretty excited, since Story of Seasons looks like it fixed many of the issues I had with A New Beginning, and The Lost Valley seems like a bold step new step.
I agree, some people don't want to give The Lost Valley a try because it's not really HM, but as far as I'm concerned: all of these kind of games are good news to me! The more good games, the happier!

Apparantly, RF4 has been rated on the German USK board, so we might just see that European localization yet.
Anyway, the thing thats annoying me about RF4 right now is starting arc 3. I'm having no luck unlock Memories, but I did mabage to get both the sleepover and Vishal's idol event.>_>

will there be a rune factory 5? I know that the company went bankrupt but another one bought the rune factory team how well did rune factory 4 actually sell? I remember that it was released during a very bad period in Europe, I think along with zelda or some other major game
Yeah, that's up in the air. I heard it actually sold pretty well (better than previous titles) but I think it was too little, too late, unfortunately. I hate to say it, but our best change for another Rune Factory is on cell phone. Maybe they'll go 3DS again (no chance of seeing a Wii U/PS4 release like Oceans). Maybe they'll abandon the cute, juvenile demeanor and go for gray and gritty to try and get more people to play it! ....That would be awful.
