Reggie did in the E3 2011 press conference when they were showing eShop and how it launched that day. I can't believe so many people missed that.
I've learned to listen to Reggie Fills Aime with the same wary-ness that I would if Ganondorf promised me he'd never harm Hyrule again and we all know that we can't trust Ganondorf anymore than the Republican Party. With that in mind I deem all promises of demos in the Nintendo 3DS eShop to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
The discussion of politics doesn't really belong in the same glass as gaming conversation, your analogy is muddled at best.

But, seriously, if this is true, then this will be very good. Although, it would be better if this demo could reach the general public, since it won't do much good in the eShop, because everybody who owns a 3DS right now, is going to get SM3DL anyway. Nintendo needs to get people who don't have a 3DS to see what they're missing out on and get them to buy a whole lot of 3DSs and copies of SM3DL, SF643D, OoT3D, and what have you for the holiday season by getting them to try out games like the ones I just mentioned via demos.
It's like trying to sell tickets for a movie, but the only people who get to see the trailer are the ones who were going to go see the movie anyway.
