Topic: Retro Studios Co-Developing Mario Kart 3DS

I was doing the Nintendo Power polls (which you can do at www.nintendopower.com/polls, btw) and one of the questions was "What aspect of the new mario kart are you most excited about?" One of the answers you can choose is, "It's being developed by Retro Studios!" How did I not know about this? I apologize if everyone knew this, but I sure didn't. I did some checking around and aparently they are designing some courses. Retro is so innovative I can't wait to see what they come up with. I think it's great that Nintendo is letting a Western developer get involved in its key games.

Well, it's not as if Nintendo couldn't make a track based on that game without them.

Yeah, I read about it in NP and thought, "well, it'll give them a handle on how to best utilize the 3D effect in a future 3DS game." And that's about all I can say about it.

Yeah, I remember seeing that track, but I had no idea that Retro was involved. I was wondering what they were working on. After this I want Nintendo to let them make an original game for Wii U.

I really do like how they have the GOOD western companies work on there games, just like Next Level Games is making Luigi's Mansion 2

Huh. Didn't know that until today. Either way, Retro is a good developer and I'm sure they'll do just fine with the new game.

All of these other companies are making all these amazing 3ds games, what is Nintendo working on?

I remember the NL preview of this game saying that the track design was amazing. Sounds like Retro is doing an awesome job, like always.

ok I hate to be pessimistic when talking about Retro, but this kinda kills my hope of Wii having the most obvious and awesome sequel ever, Donkey Kong Country: K. Rool Returns.

This is still awesome but if this means no Retro Studios version of Bramble Scramble, I will be sad.

Next 3DParty, 3DPlay, 3DSports, 3DResort and few direct ports of old games, I guess.

Grezzo made OoT 3D, and Q-Games is making Star Fox 64 3D. Nintendo usually doesn't work on ports/remakes.

I'm sure Retro Studios will do a marvelous job, they always have with their past games. I'd love to see Nintendo give Retro a few more games to work on, like maybe Zelda? I think Retro and Miyamoto could do wondrous things with it.

Sometimes I think Nintendo should just get enough developers so they don't have to worry too much about 3rd party anymore.

You know what this means right? Well of course it doesn't determine anything specific but if Retro is developing several stages for the new Mario Kart on the 3DS well, it could hint at them practicing at making a new F-Zero. Think of it.

DK's model looks like it's from DKCR. And I hope someone's looking at this 'cause these characters NEED to be in the game:ROB (who uses a steering wheel?), Dry Bowser (Needs more games), and Captain Falcon (Green shells go much faster with a little effort. FAAAAAAALLLCOOOON PUUUWWWWWWWWUUUUUUNNNNCHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!)..

@kkslider, They could always do a DK sequel on Wii U or 3DS, but I personally would rather see them work on something different.

@Kid Crono, If they are seriously interested in racing games, maybe they should be the developer to bring back F-Zero. But Mario Kart and F-Zero are so different, they're practically in different genres.

they should just get Sega to make F Zero games. Cause I miss when Sega made good games.

So they're co-developing? That's cool, although I don't think it means too much, it's just Retro testing out the 3DS which could also mean their next game being developed for it. As for the Donkey Kong sequel talk, that would be neat but what I really want to see is Retro making something original, see what they could make up on their own.
