WTF? I just found out that Secret of Mana is on my brother's iphone.....I have been desperately waiting for it to come out on DSi or 3DS for ages!
Does this mean that it will never make it to a Nintendo handheld? I refuse to buy an apple product but I still want the game soooooo badly............loved the SNES one

1) It doesn't mean the game wont be released on the DS or 3DS at some stage. I wouldn't bet on it, but Square Enix wouldn't have signed an exclusivity agreement with Apple.

2) There are a lot of Square Enix classics on iPhone and iPad. It's actually a good platform for them

3) Is there a genuine reason that you refuse to buy an Apple product? If it's not a genuine reason, then don't respond, because I'm not interested in fanboyism, but I'm interested if you have a legitimate criticism of Apple.

@Reenie: SNES-era RPG Chrono Trigger was ported to iOS also. Secret of Mana could come out for the 3DS...maybe, but since it's Square Enix... they'd probably put it on a cart and try to charge you $50 for it. Don't feel bad that it was ported to iOS though, I mean...have you tried playing it? Try it. Standard iPhone/iPod control sucks so hard for those classic game ports. No need to be jealous, feel bad for your brother, he's probably wishing he didn't spend the money on it or that he could play it correctly.

I bet he's like me. He just doesn't have the need for one, if he wants it for games he has his systems/handhelds. Just need to buy the game now instead of a whole new tech. I have never bought a cell phone in all my years or an MP3 player. Though that's unrelated.

Gah, iOS ports usually do suck. Zenonia controls were awful!

I take issue with their ethics.....corporate and otherwise. I am very interested in corporate governance and corporate culture. I want to work in that field one day! It is a loooooooong, complex rant.......
I would also like to point out that Apple is not the only tech company I dislike for those reasons.
Finally, I dislike their upgrading system; they bring out new products too frequently, and unneccesarily; I dislike the throwaway and disposable attitude.
(But yeah, the fanbois are very irritating in that they will not accept that other people do not like apple for any reason. I can appreciate that other people have opinions; I don't understand how they could not understand this?!?!?!)

Oh well, I will just hold out hope that I will one day be happily playing it on my 3DS <3

@sykotek : Yeah he showed me a little of it; I tried explaining that I prefer it on handheld because the controls are better but he would not hear any criticism of his iphone
If they brought it out on cartridge here, it would be like $69 AUD...we pay higher prices than US and our exchange rate is higher!?!?! Totally not fair, and other rant! But believe me, I would pay it. Loooooooved the game on SNES. Many hours clocked.

@KaiserGX : yeah, he has consoles but appears to hate handhelds. And if it isn't Sony, it is not a console. Because apparently, FPS are the only good games in existence.

It is not so much that you have to buy it; it is more that it encourages the throwaway culture. That is, if large companies are making it clear that they do not care about sustainability, conservation, etc others in society may follow suit. It sets a bad example. It isn't so simplistic as what you are saying (no offence!) I am looking at it at a larger scale.

I had a long argument with him several months ago; I was saying that Nintendo has many great games on their systems that have cult followings. He was saying that there were no good games on any Nintendo system; I then pointed out that he had not played any of them. He said they were crap so he wouldn't want to. I said that he didn't like any games that weren't FPS. He said he liked ResEvil. I said, yeah, but it is still largely gun based battle. I then said that at least I have a broader base of genres I enjoy and that so do other people. He is beyond help....

I have Secret of Mana on my Wii (through the Virtual Console) and it's ok. Not my type of game, the whole hack-and-slash strategy combat just doesn't do it for me.
