Topic: Quick question about Devil Survivor Overclocked

Hi everyone.

I have never played any of the Devil Survivor games, and am thinking about getting DS:O. One thing I am not sure about is how heavy the SRPG elements are in the game. I love RPGS like Etrian Odyssey, Chrono Trigger, and FF6, but am not so keen on SRPGs, or any grid-based games. I even tried Advance Wars: Days of Ruin and found it to be a great game, but too tedious to really enjoy. I know Overclocked features a traditional RPG battle system once you actually battle enemies.

So, my question is, if I am not really into SRPGs, am I still going to enjoy Overclocked, or is it pretty heavy on the grid turned based stuff?

Thanks in advance.

I think it would help if you explained a little more about why you don't like grid-based games. Because there's a lot that it does different, but it's still an SRPG at its core.

Sorry if I was vague...

I guess I get annoyed when you have to strategize and try and outsmart the enemies in the grid. It becomes very tedious for me, for example, in Advance Wars, to have to go through so much moving and turns to get to where you want to go. I dunno if that explains things any better, but I guess what I'm saying is I don't like it when turn based grid stuff takes too long or is the core mechanic in a game.

Maybe even more to the point: is Overclocked more of an SRPG where you spend more time on the grid, or a traditional turn based RPG spending more time in first person battles?

I don't think you'd like it then. There's a lot of strategy involved and strategic movement is still necessary. Not as necessesary as some other games, but probably enough to frustrate you on a frequent basis. Even the battles themse;ves require quite a bit of critical thinking, to be quite honest.

Darn. I have nothing against critical thinking in an RPG, but I don't like it as much when it's a strategy game. Always been frustrated by strategy games, whether it's Starcraft or Advance Wars.

Thanks for your input.
