I know about the 2DS. But what I don't know is

1.Does the 2DS have screen protectors?

2.Does it have low audio like how many stated?

3.Is the D-pad in the 2DS a lot like the original 3DS or is it just as good as the XL's D-pad?

4.If its a good system, why so much hate?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

1. You mean do ones exist you can buy? Yes definitely here is one for reference http://www.amazon.com/iLLumiShield-Protector-Anti-Bubble-Anti...

2/ I would say it's lower than that of the XL which is universally agreed to have the lowest of the 3ds handheld models. But being a Mono speaker this is to be expected and headphones are recommended.

3.It felt fine to be in the VERY brief time i got to try one.

4. People seem to hate on it since it removes the one major feature that makes the 3DS unique...the 3D of course. This may or may not be a deal breaker to several. Also it loses more or less any portability without the clamshell design which is another kill feature for many. Lastly with the design aspect it was largely marketed (or so assumed) primarily at children so it's a bit of a turnoff for many.

Bottom line: If i didn't really like the 3D feature i myself would consider a 2DS instead of my XL personally. The only two concerns i have is

A. Iv'e seen a few cases now where their was a tiny bit too much plastic near the home bottoms or bottom touch screen which causes the touch screen to "act on it's own" at times.

B. Even though i DO use headphones the VAST majority of my playtime as IMO the quality of ALL handheld speakers is...at best a cruel joke. The 2DS being mono is particularly bad not only in volume levels but volume quality. So playing without headphones is ill advised if you are the type that is picky about audio.

About the D-pad...
Compared to a XL and DSi, the 2DS' D-pad is kinda loose, and takes some time getting used to. I actually hated the D-pad when I first got my 2DS, though after a while I got used to it.
So no, it's not as good, but it works.

Granted my time with the 2DS was very short but i can't say i had that experience comparing it to my XL. If you don't mind my asking did you try any other 2DS units besides the one you own/tried? I''m wondering if it's just the one you bought/tried or perhaps a differing opinion.

Cheers

You should wait for the 2.5DS

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

2.5D is the worst amount of Ds, though, JumpMad. Maybe... maybe the 3.5DS?

There are screen protectors, yes. I use the ones psxsage posted and they are pretty great.

The audio is louder than that of the original system, but not quite on DSi levels (probably because there's only one speaker).

The dpad, at least mine, is slightly worse. It's really my only complaint about the model.

About the hate, just people being people.

Edit: my home button works perfectly fine, and having start and select as normal buttons under the face buttons is a big plus.

It has the best circle pad (At least the two demo models I have messed with it is so smooth).

Both my 3DS XL Circle Pad and my Circle Pad Pro one are about the same and nowhere near as nice as the 2DS ones. (So I find it very unlikely both are faulty they were bought about 6 months apart as well).

1- It does - and they are exactly the same as the original 3DS protectors, so you should be able to find them easily.
2- It is quite low, and the quality is poor. Headphones are recommended.
3- Better than the horrible squeaky 3DS pad, not as good as 3DS XL.
4- Internet.

I have only tried the one I currently own, as non of my friends have one, nor do they have any units to try in my local toystore.
So, it could be possible that the d-pad is only loose on mine.
