I read an article on ign.com about on how Nintendo plans, to work with mobile developers to make apps for Wii U. Do you guys think they should work on the 3ds also?

There's already tons of support on 3DS, with great games from smartphones like Gunman Clive, Super Little Acorns, Cut the Rope, and even more to come. They're probably only talking about Wii U support right now due to slow sales.
Without question the 3DS. You know... the whole mobile thing. Not to mention e-readers, Youtube app, etc. We're talking standard issue stuff here that should go with any portable, wifi capable device in this day and age.
In addition to what @C-Olimar said, 3DS also can't run Unity; considering how many mobile devs do and the ease it makes porting stuff to Wii U (from what I've heard; I know very little about programming), it makes mobile-to-3DS ports much harder than mobile-Wii U ports. Not impossible (as Gunman Clive and others have shown), but much harder than to Wii U.
I heard similar excuses about PS3, but stuff got done. Nintendo should also lighten up about everything having to be 3D.
They don't have to be in 3D - Fractured Soul and Sweet Memories Blackjack for example aren't 3D. But if you're going to bring something to the 3DS, I'm sure you'd want it in 3D. (People may call it cheap and lazy if it isn't).
The more the Merrier that's for sure. Are you saying that Dev's should be Required to work on 3DS if they work on Wii-U then I say No. I don't think they should be Required but they should think about the 3DS definately

Don't forget to throw in Color Commando its a nice 2d game just recently added. Although it is DSiWare it's worth a mention for a nice game to play

In general, yes. But why shouldn't the best games on iPhone come to a legitimate platform?
I think there are a ton of good Iphone and Android games that would be very welcome on 3DS. Do they have to be 3D? Nah. But it would be nice for sure. I think it would be welcome sight too see a bunch of devs convert their games to the 3DS. I wouldn't mind it one bit. My wallet would cry though **Crys**

Well, I think mobile games would be more suited to 3DS. For example, I got Kung Fu Rabbit on my Wii U but I would prefer it on 3DS. The gameplay is more suited to handhelds.
Nintendo is finally playing with the big boys now. Maybe one day, they will be as big as AngryBirds.
