Topic: puzzle swap multiple pieces

It seems to me on street pass puzzle swap that on New 3DS I get several pieces at a time from street pass tags while on original 3DS I only get one piece at a time.

Is this simply a feature of the New 3DS or is there something I need to do to improve my puzzle piece collecting effieciency on old 3ds?

I'm guessing that you're not passing the right people with your old 3DS, I haven't had any trouble getting heaps of puzzle pieces on my old 3DS

I've never had multiple pieces. Not once. [EDIT] On New3DS, old 3DS or 3DS XL. Or even 2DS (yes, I used to take them all out at one point!). Just take N3DS now. Rarely get any passes

Try updating StreetPass Mii Plaza on your original 3DS, by scrolling all the way to the left in the plaza. I'm not sure that will change anything, though, because I believe I already had all the puzzle pieces on my original 3DS before I updated Mii Plaza.

Edit: Fun fact, I just got all pieces of a 15-piece puzzle at once from just one tag.

I will check if I need to update and if that's the difference. It's ridiculous how much faster it is than the old 1 piece at a time way.

Try Homepass, if you can get it working you can have basically unlimited streetpass hits

Not much point now - I only need three pieces to complete everything. I could visit GAME and probably do it, but that means going to visit GAME... shudder!

Fair enough. I've got all the puzzle pieces , but still need to finish off the last batch of games they released. The ability to queue up 100 people and homepass as many people as I like is invaluable.

@shaneoh when you say you got heaps of puzzle pieces on your old 3DS do you mean that each individual street pass tag would give you more than one piece?

I checked for plaza update on my old 3DS and it was already up to date. On my old 3DS I only get one piece from each tag, on my new 3DS one tag can give me around 6 pieces at a time

I mean that, usually, whenever I passed someone, they would have all the puzzle pieces so I could grab whatever I needed. Although I think I misunderstood your initial question. Are you asking if it's possible to get multiple puzzle pieces from a single person in one go? If so, then no, that's never been possible on the original 3DS.

Sounds like it. On new 3DS if I only street pass one person that has an entire panel complete I can grab one piece I need and about 5 other pieces I need will automatically come along with it. On my old 3DS if I only street pass one person I can only get one puzzle piece from them.

That is odd. I still have a first wave original 3DS and I can get multiple pieces at once every time. Granted, I am actually several hundred pieces behind and IIRC it mentioned that the chances of this happening increase the less pieces you have overall.

I'm beginning to think that the multiple pieces is due to the number of pieces you have already, rather than the 3DS system you are running th game on. ie if you already have lots of pieces, then you get no (or fewer) multiples, whereas if you've only got a low number of pieces you regularly get mutiples when Streetpassing.

This seems to fit my experience, as I have a New3DS and three old style 3DSs but never got multiples on any of them, as I've nearly completed the game.

@zitpig I'd go with that. I'm one piece away from completing all the panels (have been for a while) and I've never seen this either on my original 3DS or after transferring to New 3DS. It must be something they added at some point to help new people catch up; there are a lot of panels now, after all.
