Topic: "Pre-Installed" Animal Crossing question and I need a new SD Card

I preordered the new Animal Crossing New Leaf 3DS and I know that it comes preinstalled however I recently filled up all my blocks in my 2 GB SD Card that came with the original I had to delete two large games in order to make room for the ones that were on sale. I know I might as well upgrade my SD Card to 32GB before the XL comes out so I want to know which is the cheapest one I could order? I also want to know if the "pre-installed" Animal Crossing that comes with the XL permanently tied to the system, as in never being able to be deleted off of it no matter what because I don't want any issues with transferring the data with a new SD Card.

The game itself works like any other download. It will probably be on the SD card that comes with the system. Unfortunately it is "tied-in" and can't be played on any other system, but you can transfer it to another SD card.

As for the SD cards, I can't help you

No I mean like is it tied-in to the SD Card or will it be in the system if I put another SD Card in?

It's tied-in to the SD Card that it was downloaded on and if you insert another one, it won't appear on the system unless you transfer it to another SD Card or delete then re-download.

Okay so I heard on another question forum and it said that when you transfer system data the Target system's download history will be combined with the old system, can anyone else confirm this? Does this mean when I transfer my data there will be no New Leaf anymore but it can be re-downloaded?

Yes, it can be re-downloaded on the new system that it is transferred to.

If I am understanding you correctly, the only way New Leaf would be 'overwritten' is if the destination card is too full.

EDIT nevermind, I think I get what you are trying to do.

I've got the new AC and it's not a crazy size, but it's definitely worth upgrading your SD card. The game is a download, which is tied to your 3DS, not the SD card. You can redownload it, even with a different SD card. If you download it to a small SD card, you can simply copy the contents of the card to a new SD card and it will work perfectly in your usual 3DS.

As for transferring, data like how many steps you've taken and the hours you've played games will be overwritten with the source data. But your eShop data is basically merged, including the credit you have in the store. You'll still see Animal Crossing as an option for downloading.

Thats good to know, I'll be picking my ACNL 3DS XL at midnight and I was curious how pre installed data would be affected during a transfer. I've got tons of eShop games and didn't want to end up losing Animal Crossing during the transfer.

You CAN transfer and keep the preinstalled copy! I transferred my system data from my old 3DS to my new AC one, but did not copy across the SD card data. I then swapped the SD cards in the two systems and went to the eshop on the AC 3DS. I navigated to AC and was able to redownload the title. So I've got the transfer data and the "preinstalled" copy! I then switched the contents of the SD card on the PC so I could use the greater capacity of the 4GB card.

The SD card in the other system does not allow me to play AC. It's possible that you can transfer the data over on the SD card during the tranfer process and then still download from the eshop. I didn't do that in case AC was tied to the SD card, but I see no reason now why it wouldn't work since it is tied to the system memory and counts as a purchased title.
