Now that we know there will be Miis for the 3DS, I think it's a good time to start talking about what Nintendo could do with them. Firstly, as well as more options for facial appearance, I think you should be able to style your Miis with different clothes, shoes etc. As well as normal clothes, your Mii could wear clothes from videogames and have accessories (just like avatars on the 360). I also think there should be games where you play as your Mii, and you can play with or against other Miis. Nintendo could even release a 'Mii World' game for 3DS, where you can connect to Wi-Fi and interact with other Miis around the world, playing games with them and talking to them. Friends have already been announced, and you can view a menu where you see your friends' Miis holding an icon showing their last game or software played, as well as showing other information. I think, using this menu, you should be able to send requests to your Mii friends to chat, interact with their Mii, or play a game online with them.

What do you think Nintendo should do with Miis?

All great ideas, just as long as you don't have to pay extra for them (cough Microsoft).

I know the 3DS has access to 3 cameras so it wouldn't be crazy to hope that they allow you to attach photos to your online presence on the thing. However I think it would be a missed opportunity if they didn't use Miis instead. I know, I know, Miis are much more limited and the shine has gone a bit over the last few years but I still quite like Miis. They are much cleaner than photos and not in the "you can't make a penis Mii" kinda way (you apparently can). Photos are inherently square, they don't work well with solid backgrounds unless you put effort into making them work well. Remember Wii Play? Remember the menu where your Mii was tapping his foot in the foreground while other Miis were walking, jogging, running and swimming in the background? Yeah, call me crazy but Miis are much more interesting than photos.

so +1 for Miis and +1 for having using them as a system ID/user ID. Not so sure about the other stuffs you are talking about though and I really hope they don't do DLC T-Shirts and other promotional crap............

I'm almost certain Nintendo will use Miis as avatars instead of photos. There's no purpose to them otherwise. Besides, you can do a lot more with Miis than photos.

They will probably use face recognition so you won't be able to take photos of other things than faces. An apple mii would be nice though

Actually, friends haven't been announced. That menu was for StreetPass, the system that allows 3DSs to share data while they are in sleep mode, even if you don't know that person. There may be a friends system, (and through it it would be cool to send mail through SpotPass, like on the Wii) but we'll have to wait and see.

Oh. Well, I'd be surprised if they didn't make a friends system. It seems perfect for 3DS. @skywake I don't mind promotional shirts as long as I don't have to pay for them. I wouldn't mind paying for other clothes/accessories though (Mario's hat, Link's sword, Samus' suit).
