If you attempt to go see K. K. Slider perform on December 8, you will find him shot to death outside of Club LOL by a shadowy figure that leaves behind a copy of The Catcher in the Rye. This is a touching reference (and tribute) to the death of music legend Paul McCartney.
You guys do know Nintendo won't reference most movies, and not video games from other companies, and the Legend of Zelda was created by Nintendo so the next game is NOT the 4th.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf,It is possible to Time Travel. This is an obvious reference to The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,Another Video Game you can Time Travel in.
I know it's obvious,But yeah.
You are correct first other person who relized an actual reference.
Even though in ACNL: Time traveling is considered a hack.
@NightmareXIV Do you know what a joke is? Of course none of these references are serious; we're obviously over-analyzing small details in the game for comedic purposes. We're being clever here, and you're ruining the good fun.

Sometimes after a rainy day, there will be a double rainbow in the sky. This is apparently a reference to a massively popular youtube video, but it's impossible to know which one.
In nook's shop there is a telephone booth which is an obvious reference to Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure and the space themed furniture is an obvious reference to the extremely under rated Darkseed 2 video game.

Do you have any proof that Nintendo made the Zelda series? Your wrong.

Some copy / pasting from the Animal Crossing Wiki, which has great information about the "standard" characters in every village:
If you turn your game off without resetting, you will get a nasty lecture from a character called Mr. Resetti. This is a very clear reference to troubled film director Roman Polanski, who famously inserts a scene of himself shouting angrily at the audience into each of his movies. This is because Polanski is convinced audiences get up and leave before the end of his films, thereby depriving themselves of closure. Resetti's speeches are taken word-for-word from these scenes, similarly pleading for you to finish up "properly."
Have you ever wondered why the wordy old owl who digresses so often when you try to talk to him is named Blathers? It's a reference to Spider-Man's real name, which, as comic book fans know, is Barry Blathers. This is why Blathers is so afraid of the bugs you hand him...he's afraid he'll be bit by a radioactive spider and then have to fight crime in his pajamas. The joke, of course, is that he's already obviously been bitten by a radioactive owl...and nobody has the heart to tell him!
It may seem strange that you interact with a monkey named Porter at the train station. After all, you are a human being! Why would you be interacting with a monkey? Well, the answer is that you shouldn't be! It's a reference to Every Which Way But Loose, in which Clint Eastwood also has to interact with a monkey. In both cases, the joke is how silly it is for a monkey and a human being to be having a conversation. In both cases, it's hilarious!!!!
It may also seem strange that you interact with an alpaca that runs a furniture store. This was a developer oversight; you were not supposed to be able to interact with Reese at all. She was meant to be chained up outside the shop, eating trash and fertilizing the grass with her manure.

[Insert cool references from the Animal Crossing Wiki]
Shakes head disaprovingly.
I don't see the problem. Something against wikis?
