The simple solution? Make EXP obtained upon defeating Pokemon lower.

Okay, okay. But how about those who like competetive battling? Not only just leveling up and evolving. Some pokemon gets their moves at lv 90 or such. That's why I don't think it would ever happen.

Pokemon is a yearly franchise, so something's probably coming next year.
1998 Red/Blue
1999 Yellow
2000 Gold/Silver
2001 Crystal
2002 Break
2003 Ruby/Sapphire
2004 FireRed/LeafGreen
2005 Emerald
2006 2nd Break
2007 Diamond/Pearl
2008 3rd Break
2009 Platinum
2010 HeartGold/SoulSilver
2011 Black/White
2012 Black2/White2
2013 X/Y

All in all, they've missed 3 years in 15 years. I think it's safe to call it a yearly franchise.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

@KTT Okay, let's say that we go with my original idea and Pokemon are all lvl. 100 after Johto. How is that bad? This means that your battles will be equal, and if trainers have smarter AI, then they're going to give you a run for your money since you can no longer be 10 levels ahead of them. This makes strategy more important. I think it would work out fine.

Such game would be more like a bigger Battle Frontier/Battle Subway/Battle Mansion. As I would love to see bigger difficulty level in a pokemon game (we can agree that XY is ridiculously easy), such level of difficulty would drive me away. And perhaps many causal players as well.
The game would stop being "me and my team adventure in pokemon world" and become "maxed IV and EV perfect competetive team". And we all know how tedious is getting perfect IV pokemon.

@KTT It's the same as battling a friend...

@BlatantlyHeroic Battling a friend =/= battling a computer. And there would be at least 6000 computer battles in the game at lv 100.

@BlatantlyHeroic You do realise that by going to every region, you will be soon having lv 100 pokemon in your team (at the end of Johto)? And all other fights would be at lv 100. (Unless they slow down the leveling up process, but that won't happen).

Could always have several Mon storage systems (Kanto, Johto, Unova etc.) and when traveling to a different region the previous region's 'Mon are taken away and stored in the respective box, and you start off with one of that region's starters. Then have a set circumstance which would allow any 'Mon to be taken to any region.

Not that it matters as I recall an article here at some point saying that multiple/all regions together wouldn't happen.

So Pokémon X & Y were meant as entry level titles. Okay. So how 'bout making Z one for the hardcore fans? Bring back the difficulty of Generation III! I still find LeafGreen Version rather difficult; especially when compared to the difficulty level of the newer games. I still have not seen the Game Over screen in Pokémon Y.

I thought about that. It's an interesting idea but there are few downhills. Like being intimate with your previous team, having your own favourite pokemon unable to train, catching the same pokemon again and training it etc.

Yeah, I don't think it'll happen either. Anyways, I think this "all region game" is sorta getting off topic.

@Gioku That's what I'm actually hoping for. For an enchanced version for more hadcore fans. XY was way to easy and with too generic plot. Maybe something near to Whitney's Miltank?
Game Over in pokemon? Do you mean the "blackout" or "white out" thing? After which you start from the latest pokemon center with money reduced?

Yep. I usually end up seeing that at least once; but I got through the entire game this time without losing any battles. Ever. I won them all. If that's not an easy game, I don't know what is...

I thought Black 2 had good difficulty, I ended up behind the curve the whole time and the entire game was an uphill struggle. But it was great fun because of that! In Y, I was way ahead of the curve the whole time; about 5-10 levels ahead of where I needed to be for the entire game.

Wait, I've got it. With each region you visit, you are forced to box your older Pokemon in the PC in the region you obtain them from, and it's almost like starting over with each region you go to, then, once you have obtained all badges, a new region which holds the Ultimate Pokemon League will allow you to access all of the separate PC's for the regions you've visited.

I haven't seen that one in... several years... Mostly because I'm unintentionally grinding (I'm searching routes and areas for hidden items and all avaiable pokemon). In XY I got lv 40 pokemon before 2nd Gym (if I recall well) and lv 80 when battling Yveltal (it would be even higher but I was using lower level pokemon to prevent that).
Last time I've got such a big level boost was in Blue, in that Diglett Cave. Dugtrio gives incredible amount of Exp points...

I can agree with BW2 and BW. Those are good games, with good difficulty curve, not too long, not too short. And that sudden level jump after defeating E4 in BW was unexpected but definitelly added a challenge. If I remember well, E4 also got higher levels after you battled them once.

@BlatantlyHeroic It was discussed in somewhere in a post above.
It's an interesting idea and I like the ultimate league concept. But what level that league is? 100? If so, all your boxed pokemon are at levels 60-70 (and only those which you have trained). You need more boring grinding (or just take the challenge and fight underleveled pokemon with lv 100 pokemon league and champion with pseudolegendaries).
Unless you want add some suplot and map when you can get those levels more easier?

@KTT: Well, that only furthers the point, because I never saw the blackout screen without extra grinding; I just played the game "normally", and still never lost a battle. I think it's because of all the ways they've made it easier to gain experience. Not that I'm complaining, though - leveling up was always really boring to me. That's not to say they can't still make the game harder without also making it harder to level up, though.

@KTT The thing is, the Elite 4 is supposed to be a challenge as it is. I remember when I first fought Red, and his Pokemon were 20 levels above my Pokemon, even after grinding. It's that kind of challenge that makes a game great. The battle against the Elite 4/5 is what you've been working so hard for, it should give you a run for your money. These are supposed to be the most powerful trainers in the world, you're not getting off THAT easy.

However, If it is that much of a problem, then I suppose the Elite 5 can just level up with you, making their Pokemon as strong as your highest level Pokemon.

I rather have a remake of a previous Pokemon game after Pokemon X/Y than Pokemon Z or X/Y 2. Gamefreak shouldn't go back to Kalos unless they are fully commited to listening to complaints from fans. A backstory for Zygarde for Pokemon Z and X/Y 2 wouldn't be enough of a purchase. Gamefreak SHOULDA gave Zygarde his own freaking Arc in X/Y but did they? No.
So yeah. I prefer a remake. I much prefer Gamefreak revisit an amazing region like Sinnoh or Hoenn or Johto or even Unova and making it awesome. Pokemon X/Y graphics in a Sinnoh game? I'm sold. Pokemon X/Y graphics in Hoenn/Johto/Unova? I'm sold.

I would prefer a remake of Emerald or at least a modified version of Ruby/Sapphire that included battle frontier the best post game content in any Main Pokemon game imo.

@Jazzer94 AGREED FULLY!!! I LOVE BATTLE FRONTIER!!! Battle Subway and Battle Miason are terrible compared to Battle Frontier!!!! Who the heck in Gamefreak thought Battle Miason would be a better idea than remaking Battle Frontier in Kalos?! Battle Miason is boring and looks incredibly bland. Battle Frontier from Pokemon Platinum still looks better and had more content than Battle Miason.

So, ultimately: I want Z to be greater difficulty, greater post-game content. If it doesn't deliver on those fronts, well... at least it will fill my yearly Pokémon craving...

X2/Y2, no thank you. I still haven't even beaten White2. It got boring fast. Also, they need to have a much higher difficulty. I should never have a team of Lv. 70 Pokemon when I face the Elite Four. Plus much more post game content. Why can't it be like Heart Gold and Soul Silver? that had another region, the Pokeathlon, the Battle Frontier(Which it's ridiculous that it hasn't returned for 3 games.), and a build your own Safari. Whatever happens the Battle Frontier better return. But, honestly what if they remade 3rd gen first. It's unnecessary, but I'd love that.
