Anyone think the next region might be based off somewhere in Australia? I feel like the next region will be based on a country from a continent that hasn't had a region yet (ie South America, Australia, and Africa. Antarctica wouldn't get one for obvious reasons). Of course, South America actually exists in the Pokemon world, or at least in Gen 1 as I'm not sure if FRLG retconned that. Who knows, maybe the next region will be based off somewhere in South America specifically for Mew to coincide with Pokemon's 20th anniversary.

Australia or South America would be good choices. I'm actually not sure about how they'd handle places like Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia since most of those areas are third world and don't really play Pokemon. But then again, that didn't stop them from giving them exclusive Vivillon forms (which ticks me off to no end because it makes those forms more valuable than they should be).

@PokeNas Didn't Saudi Arabia ban Pokemon?

Anyways, for Africa I'd imagine the region would be based off either Egypt or South Africa. A region based off of Egypt could be pretty interesting as far as the legendaries go.

They did, and they're not the only ones. Qatar, Egypt, and Dubai also banned Pokemon.

Pokemon doesn't have much of a presence outside of the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and South Korea. The recent opening in the Chinese market may spread its popularity there, too.

Egypt certainly has a lot of source material for new legendaries, but not all of them need to be legendary.

Australia would be a great choice with maybe New Zealand included in the main game and post game we can explore the archipelago east of Australia.Maybe Papua new Guinea will be included in main/post game to make a whole Oceania/Australasia in a game. That would be epic a whole continent as a region.

IGN: 4out of 10 too much water. Though Aussieland would be a nice place to have the best game. Especially since it is closer to Japan as well compared to Kalos or Unova.

I would like to see a desert area be more flushed out. The biggest desert area Pokemon has seen would probably be the one in Ruby and Sapphire. It could be cool to see more of it.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I don't like deserts places that much compared to the sea and grass places, in fact I don't like Deserts at all it makes me feel tired and thirst whilst in other parts(towns, seas, forested)makes me feel peaceful and jolly. So I wouldn't buy that game (rather play an Pokemon Oceania game).

That is part of why I would like to see it. I would like them to make the desert areas more fun. Maybe find an oasis within the desert that has certain Pokemon. Maybe have sandstorms randomly throughout the day that during those sandstorms special Pokemon can be found. expand on the desert areas rather than the generic "here is where you find rock/ground type Pokemon"

EDIT: Looks like you deleted your comment

Aussieland=Australia. To be honest it can be lot like Hoenn with the clothing (Brendan and May) and landscape with the whole of Oceania included. It can be lot like Kalos and Unova with Sydney like Lumiose city and you can have a desert around Ayers rock. There will lots to explore and lots of post game content with many landscapes from deserts to mountains. It could also be diverse like Unova with Maori, Aborigines including islanders. If Game freak does this right it could be one of the best Pokemon games ever (if game freak does this).

Sorry about the comment, but that is a quite good idea and would like the desert area more if that happened than I do now.

A desert area with similar mechanics and design to shoal cave (Sandstorm making it unaccessable) would indeed be interesting. However they would pull that off logically would be a mystery. There are such things as high tides, but a "sand tide" isn't really a thing in the real world. Sandstorm would just make the desert itself inaccessable and inconvient for simple things as a desert should take up much space to get in and out, while a cave like shoal cave can have multiple levels offering exploration.

If GF really does do Pokemon Z, it will further validate all my complaints about them being the "EA of Nintendo partners"

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

They practically are already. They release incomplete games and lock content to get you to spend even more money. They've gone even further in this direction this gen with the decrease in content in XY and ORAS, the lack of gameplay features, and paying for transfers is awfully close to feeling like on disc DLC.

How would Z be any different than Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum?

What locked content are you talking about? The exclusive pokemon? Those are there to create the urge to trade with other players, you don't have to spend any more money. What decreased content in X/Y or ORAS are you talking about? They have plenty of content that keeps me playing for over 40 hours each.

1. Transfer is now a paid app instead of an integrated feature, requiring you to spend more money.
2. XY has very little post game content and few extra gameplay features. The only post game areas are Kiloude City and the rooms holding Mewtwo and Zygarde, there's no post game region or anything. And there's nothing like Secret Bases or Contests or anything like that, which heavily decreases replay value.
3. ORAS includes pretty much nothing from Emerald (no Battle Frontier, no Mirage Tower, no Trainer Hill, no Desert Underpass, no Safari Zone expansion, none of that) and feels lacking as a result. And Hoenn also lacks post game areas, you just get a handful of tiny islands.

1. Pokebank is also an expanstion to the PC. The 3D games are not on the same console as past gens, and there isn't a port like for GBA games to transfer things over. This is a console flaw that nintendo left out, nothing to do with GF.. otherwise they could've did what they did with BW and use a digital download. Pokebank transfer is much more convient, storing pokemon in 100 additional boxes while being compatable with the new games and updatable for future installments.. and 5 dollars a year isn't bad at all. If you can't afford 5 dollars for a year then how did you even afford the 3ds. Being able to move your entire PC withen 5 minutes is sure heck of a lot easier than 6 pokemon at a time with a pointless minigame, pal park to find them all, or indivigually trading one by one. Worth 10 dollars IMHO.

2. Again, the console shift, new mechanics, map redesign, models and animations instead of gifs and sprites, etc etc we've been here already was a huge undertaking for x/y. We all know x/y sucked, however the development of the game was a rocky road. The next kalos installment will probably introduce everything x/y lacked since we now we can just move all the models over.

Heck.. the mega eons were never released in x/y yet they were still present. X/Y was more of a beta for gen 6th in general IMO.

3. Oh gee um.. maybe idk because it's OMEGA RUBY and ALPHA SAPPHIRE Not delta emerald with all that cool stuff...

but that BF tease at the battle resort was unnecessarly stupid admittingly. They shouldn't have mentioned it in the game period if it wasn't included.

Perhaps the next game will introduce everything x/y lacked; Good rewarding post game, much better difficulty and trainer rematching, (i.e. e4 using better pokemon), a much more sensible story.. x/y's was horrible.. even the mega evolution story looked gimmicky and awful in x/y.. delta episode in oras patched that trainwreck beautifully..

..and included what oras didn't have; battle frontier, a better mega distribution, new areas to explore, etc.
