Topic: Pokemon X - Should I start my game over?

I think I've totally screwed up my game, at least for the most part. Currently I have 7 gym badges, am about to get my 8th, and then will face the elite four. I've already caught Xerneas as well. My problem however is not with the "story" of the game, its more with competitive battling, trading, and the like. When I first started playing, my initial plan was to go through the story of the game, catch every pokemon in each of the areas, and then work on getting all the legendaries and super rare pokemon that I've never been able to get on any of the other games before. I also wanted to catch my "dream team" that I've always wanted in a game and level them up to be awesome and what not.

Stupid me however made a couple mistakes. First off, I started off using "Super Training" without having a clue as to what I was doing. So I was boosting up random stats for each of my pokemon on my main team. Shortly after I actually did some research and realized that for competitive battling, you want to min/max certain stats for different pokemon. Currently, I've got a Lucario, (which I leveled from an egg, not the one that the gym leader gave me) Staraptor, Raichu, Gogoat, Delphox, and Mewostic who all range in between level 62 to 71. All their stats are maxed out now because I've leveled them up so much, and because I went all crazy with Super Training. So I can't go back and "fix" their stats so that they're better trained for competitive battling. I've already done like 15 random battles with other people in game, and I have yet to win a single match. That's how bad it is.

So now here I am wondering if I should just start my game over and not make the same mistakes; or if I should just finish the game, and then re-level other pokemon to replace all my derped up ones.

What do you guys think I should do? I'm just looking for some advice or opinions on the matter. I feel so stupid for making so many dumb mistakes at the beginning of the game. I told myself that this time with Pokemon X I wanted to be more hardcore about the game and get all the legendaries, my dream team of pokemon, and completely fill up my pokedex. Those were my main goals, and I'm enjoying Pokemon X so much because of all the new stuff they've added. I just don't know what to do.

I've had several people who wanted to trade pokemon with me, but I didn't have anything worth trading for, so I always end up closing the trade and look like an idiot. I mean someone wanted to trade me a lvl 100 Mew the other day, and I was just like "wow Wulfey you are so bad at this game!" There's still a lot of things I'm confused about too, like using the Daycare and hatching eggs to get powerful pokemon with good abilities, etc. How the whole Pokemon Safari thing works, and getting more friend codes so I can catch different kinds of pokemon.

Maybe I should just go buy Pokemon Y and play that one and use my other game for trading or something. I don't know! I feel like such a newb though, and like an idiot for screwing up the stats with my main pokemon team. =(

Any thoughts or ideas on the matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Wait for Pokemon Bank to be released. Dump all your Pokemon and start over haha.
Just because you don't have the best Pokemon now doesn't mean you can't start the breeding process. It is usually the end game of the story where you start to assemble your dream team anyways.

If you want to go ahead, but i'm you'll lose the Torhic from the event when the game launched.

I'd say beat the game and breed the team you want for Competitive battles and start from there.

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Yeah, most people just build a new team for competitive battling through breeding after they beat the main game. You could get a resetbag and start over again, but to be honest your Pokemin most likely don't have the best natures (or IVs if you care about those) in the first place. I say just beat the main game and make a new team from scratch, then you also get the benefits of egg moves.

Have they made an update and announced when Pokemon Bank will be out?

Thanks for the replies. How do you get a "reset bag?" Is that a rare punching bag that you can get or something like that?

I guess I'll just do what Gobelee said and wait for Pokemon Bank, and I'll just throw all my pokemon in there, and then restart. I might just go buy Pokemon Y too while I'm waiting for Pokemon Bank to come out, and work on it, as well as finishing my other game and working on some breeding.

Okay I feel a little better about things now. Because for a minute there I was freaking out and wanted to bang my head into the wall over and over for making so many stupid mistakes. Thanks you guys, I really appreciate your thoughts and ideas about this.

See that's where I start to get confused. I'm pretty new to the whole breeding for egg movies, and also the hidden abilities, and IV's (I don't even know what that is ><). I'm going to do what you guys said though and just finish the game, and work on getting a new team leveled. And then when Pokemon Bank comes out, I'll save all the pokemon I've caught, and start a new game on X or Y.

In the mean time I'll go do a bunch of research on breeding, competitive battling, legendaries, and all that good stuff. So hopefully I won't make the same mistakes again. The more you know, right? ^^

You really don't need to restart. After you beat the game start breeding and getting Pokemon with great stats. Research how to breed, and perfect IV's etc.
If you want to battle competitively it is the only way to make a great team.

The Pokemon you pick up during the story will not not have stats that will hold up. Good luck!

You could also breed the Pokémon that you think you "screwed up" and give the stats you want/need to the offspring whenever possible.

Most importantly, don't take it so seriously. It is a game after all.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Yeah I know it's just a game. It's just for once I wanted to be all hardcore about a pokemon game and do all the end content stuff. That's what I think I'm going to do though, finish the game, and then breed a new team for competitive battling, and then go from there as far as trading and finihsing my pokedex goes. Thank you very much! ^_^

To check IV's go to a guy who stands in the top left corner of a pokecenter in Kiloude City post game.

Uhhh one more question, what's the best way to go about getting more friend codes? >_< Should I make a thread on the forums and post my FC and then add whoever replies to it?

Don't trust pokebank, or any bank for that matter! Like any other bank, someone can break into it and steal all your Pokémon, so that is why I'm making my own pokebank called PokéCamp with a fee of $0 pokedallors.
All you have to do is leave all your pokemon to me and I will keep them safe from Nintendo's money grubbing hands
LordJumpMad is not responsible for lost, released, missing,Pokémon. LordJumpMad is also not responsible if PokéCamp is shut down for selling Slowpoke Tails, and or other pokemon body parts. LordJumpMad is also not responsible for pokemon fainting from working at the Nugget mines

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

If you keep hitting the bag without actually training, you may get a white bag called the "Reset Bag". This punching bag will reset all EV changes done by super training or battling.
