The fact that they're using different type moves doesn't guarantee their secondary type (if any) though. Most Psychic types can learn Shadow Ball and they're not part Ghost. The red / black colours in the first picture makes me think of Aerial Ace btw.

Why would Chespin, a grass type, use Aerial Ace?

I'm just pointing out, its not definite, but I don't think they would have made it so clear if it didn't mean something.

Well, why would Fennekin use a Psychic move on Kirlia?
I'm not trying to be critical, I understand what you mean, but let's just say that Nintendo might be trying to use Fake Out.

@MrWalkieTalkie - That's true, now that I think about it.

I'm just saying, they make the types of the starters really obvious in the announcement trailer.

Pattern: Shows starter, shows starter using primary type attack, shows starter using secondary type attack, repeat.

So just an educated guess here:

Grass / Dark
Water / Fighting
Fire / Psychic

That also means each starters secondary type cancels out the other starters. It's like a double rock-paper-scissors rule they might have going.

Man, that makes a lot of sense!... Lets hope it actually happens instead of them ending up Grass, Water, and Fire/Fighting... Again.
And @Luigiman200 Wasn't there a psychic move that did extra damage to psychic types?

I used to travel the stars, then I discovered Earth, and these incredibly addicting things called 'Video Games.'
And they said you couldn't buy happiness!

@Void - A Psychic move doing extra damage to other Psychics? No, I don't think so.
You might be thinking of Synchronoise which is a Psychic move that does damage to anyone whose the same type as the user.

Yeah, I can't see Fennekin becoming a typical Fire/Fighting. Seriously, how would that be possible?

@Luigiman kinda like how Tepig becoming a fighting type was impossible, or chimchar, or Torchic seriously I would've never thought a chicken, a pig or a monkey becoming a fighting, well maybe a monkey

Oh man. I don't way but I literally LOL'd in real life when I read that sound/light type theory. No. I can't believe that would happen. Game Freak will never introduce a new type again. Dark and Steel were only added to balance the meta game against psychics, and as of right now there is no super dominate type. It would be cool and a massive evolution to the serious though.

Gioku

I don't really mind if they add new types. Especially sound, which could be easily incorporated, because, like it says, there are already a lot of sound related moves/pokemon. Light type, though, sounds kind of redundant; psychic really fills the role of light already. Sound has no analog.

And anyway, these pokemon might just be based on sound and light, similar to how we have some pokemon based on time, but no "time" type.

Actually I think if they add a new type, they should finally give a specific type to cures since its always been ??? Type

I was wondering if we could actually see new types arise with Gen. 6. However, I don't know about Sound and Light types, they seem too limited to me.

Well if those are new types, let us add a Rubber Type and then go catch rubber bands in the wild.
