@IceClimbers I don't know why Team Rocket is here. Like...at all.
They were NEVER interesting. Only thing worse is Team Flare who started off as a bad Team Rocket if that is believable, before very suddenly morphing into a worse Team Galactic for the conclusion of what that game calls a cohesive story.
But we have Team Skull. They are like Team Rocket but you know...not cardboard.

And here is the thing. This game has Team Skull. No world domination, no god tier plans. Just a gang with bad intentions.
The difference? You are putting Team Rocket, the most cardboard bunch of imbeciles in the franchise, in a game with what is effectively Team Rocket with Character.
Team Skull are just regular criminals, except they are characters. They are developed. Team Rocket are so...bland. And you put em in a game together its just...why? Team Rocket will literally be overshadowed by how well developed Team Skull is, and will add absolutely nothing as Team Skull is already there to fill that role anyway
Now Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4
Except team skull did have ulterior motives. They were secretly allied with Aether.
Anyway, the plain old team rocket might be gone now... The rainbow rocket rumor, for those interested, says... That Rainbow Rocket takes over Aether Paradise (which is visible in the new screenshots, by the way) and summons over all the evil teams of all the games, from alternate dimensions where they all succeeded in their plans.
Well, if the Rainbow Rocket rumors/leaks are true, which appears to be the case, then they're definitely not boring or simple in this game.
It also means this game is taking a bigger deep dive into the alternate dimension/universe stuff than they let on. The game is going full Rick and Morty.
@BLP_Software Nah, X/Y's plot was still more convoluted than this.
Pretty sure the Rainbow Rocket stuff will be the post game episode they mentioned.
The main plot will probably be nearly identical to Sun/Moon until you get to the Necrozma and Ultra Recon Squad part. After that it's basically just A Link Between Worlds
You know, theyre were just regular old criminals without ulterior motives or plans for interdimensional resets.
No complex backstories, no world domination schemes, no desire to control any gods. Just a gang with bad intentions.
You have a funny definition of "interesting". I don't mind getting rid of the grandiose world domination plots revolving around godlike legendaries, but TR is the opposite extreme. Their plans are so trivial and unrelated that it makes Kanto and Johto feel like they have no plot. Hopefully TR is better in this game.
@Bolt_Strike At least they showed up in Kanto, in Johto, it's Slowpoke Well, their Base, and the Radio Tower. The remakes added one grunt in Ecruteak City.
They practically aren't in Johto anyway!

Story in Pokemon games is overrated anyway, so it doesn't matter.
It matters to the degree that the region doesn't feel like it's populated by lifeless punching bags that want to battle you for little to no other reason than being a trainer.
@Bolt_Strike Which is why Unova's gym leaders are great. They're actual characters.
Unova is definitely ideal, but I'd even take Hoenn, Sinnoh, Kalos, or Alola over Kanto and Johto. At least for those regions you still have actual characters in the rivals and evil team admins.
