I dunno, I only openend the PSS when I actually needed it, the rest of the time I would leave the amie tab running to get the goodies from visitors.
That's pretty much what I did. I've only used the Festival Plaza in Sun once, though I'll likely start using the GTS once I hit the post-game; that's normally when I focus more on the Pokedex.
Honestly, Festival Plaza seems like a lot of bloat.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I want to ask a question. Am I the only one that thinks that the new Pokémon games are totally boring? I'm playing XY at the moment and it feels like a chore from start to end. You could say that I'm not a child anymore but I do enjoy other games so I'm not sure. I find the game complicated, boring, dull, tiresome, soulless and everything I do in the game feels like a chore. I liked the GBA Pokémon games, though.
@BlueOcean It starts off fine, minus the forest area being a copy/paste of Viridian Forest from Gen 1 (The 6th gym is also a copy/paste gimmick of the 6th gym in Gen 1 too)
The region has 450 out of what was at the time 721 Pokémon available during the main quest.
The story is up and down with terrible pacing.
After the first gym you have a huuuuuge gap meant to build bonds with your travelling friends (It doesn't work, they are far too one note and under developed) and introduce Team Flare, most of which wastes time, and Team Flare is only met at the tail end of that.
Then you go through the 2nd-7th gyms in quick succession. That break could have been placed so much better.
And the less we talk about Team Flare, the better.
Plus, the region feels lifeless. Empty. Boring.
Now Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4
Thanks for the replies. I also hate the shopping parts (I think that's just me!) and all the conversations bore me to death. I get lost a lot, I had to look online where I was supposed to go next a few times because I had no idea and I didn't want to walk or rollerblade everywhere and read all the tiresome and superficial conversations again. I see that the game is full of features and menus, there's probably a lot of stuff but I don't really feel like going through it because it feels like torture. I hope I can at least finish the story.
EDIT:
My file:
Cyllage City
Badges: 1
Pokedex: 91
Time: 12:21
By the way, I forgot what I was supposed to do now! LOL
@BlueOcean If I remember correctly, Strength isn't required until Victory Road, and you get handed a Pokémon capable of surfing right before you need it.

@Snaplocket I think that the fact that the villages and conversations bore me to death is the main reason why I can't appreciate the good things that the game sure has, I remember that the battles impressed me in the beginning because I was used to the GBA battles. That boredom I get with XY is also why I'm missing stuff all the time like the gym at Cyllage and I am lost like a child without fairy in Kokiri Forest. The opinions about XY and the replies I received are sincere and well-intentioned and I appreciate that.
X/Y was just generic, the only real reason to enjoy X/Y was because it was "gen 6" rather than what game in gen 6 you were playing.
Gen 6 games were pretty stale with not much to do besides shiny hunt and battle. X/Y's story contradicted itself and ORAS completely changed the story of mega evolution from x/y's. Every blade of grass made you encounter a pokemon that wasn't gen 6 and every trainer was basically the same way... earlier routes you saw some of the new stage 1 gen 6 pokemon in grass and trainer parties, but mid-late game you started seeing less of kalos and more of kanto, johto, and sinnoh. Part of the reason is because every important character's signature pokemon mega evolved and nothing in kalos got a mega evolution so you had villians just abusing the same pokemon with a mega kanto pokemon as their strongest.
Sun and moon I feel didn't improve much either. It was visually better, story was great and long enough, a lot of focus was on alolan pokemon over past gen, but even post game battling is stale considering the effort and lack of confidence it is to search for a battle. (rather then being able to do it at all times at the bottom of your screen in gen 6.)
I was actually disappointed with sun and moon... x/y kept me interested because of the ease of searching for battles while breeding, so there was easy competitive thrill to it that kept it alive for me. Sun and Moon, its either breed or battle and I've found a single battle in the week I've owned sun and moon, rest I'd have to battle spot and that's a problem of its own. I legitimately got bored of sun and moon and I can't remember when I opened it last. ORAS and X/Y I played almost every day since their releases.
