Has it been confirmed whether this one will have the option to play as your recruits while your main characters are off on their own adventures? That was basically the only thing I liked about GTI.

Doesn't seem like that mode will be returning. Or at least Serebii's hasn't mentioned it.

Also, to add to my list of things I'm not liking the sound of:.
-there's a finite number of missions.

Well, in the previous games, you had boards with randomized missions and random rewards every day.

In this one, there's no boards. Instead you get missions directly from the Pokemon in the link-bubble-thing. Each one has a few missions. And well, once you're done with them they're done forever.

Which means eventually you won't have any missions to do.

I doubt it will be game breaking, but it's still odd.

@Morpheel: Ah, I see. Definitely sounds odd, but I will say as much as I liked the older Mystery Dungeon games, I did start to get bored after I beat the game so hopefully it won't be much of an issue.

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

I'm going to wait until the game releases, there's a few weeks to go yet.

The only benefit to prepurchasing, is a new 3ds theme, but I don't know about anybody else.. mine just lags and loses framerate at the home menu whenever I do have a theme (New 3ds XL Red). I can wait.

I usually wait for reviews now unless I'm exceptionally confident in a game's success, like Tropical Freeze or Super Mario Galaxy. Besides my friend will probably grab it day one and he can tell me how it is.

I've got a physical copy pre-ordered. I want the theme but the last time I downloaded a mystery dungeon game I didn't really like it enough to play it constantly. That's why I went retail. If I find I love it then I will give the retail version to my son and download it then. It's just the price is a little too expensive for my tastes. Hence why I pre-purchased it back around E3.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

The download is a bit too expensive here. It would far cheaper to just buy it online... I'll still wait though.

Interestingly I do have it preordered from amazon.... But it's not for me, a friend asked me to preorder it for him.

Hopefully I get a response here. I've been keeping my eye on this game, but I'm not sure if I should get it. I love Pokémon, but I've never played any of the Dungeon Explores. I tried the last one's demo, but the excessive dialogue turned me off. The gameplay seemed fun though.
Should I buy into this one? Pros & Cons?

Thinking of getting this for Christmas how does Super Mystery Dungeon compare to Gates to Infinity?

Well there aren't any "official" reviews out yet, but through unofficial reviews it appears this is the best one in the series, at the very least way better than Gates to Infinity. But, I haven't tried it yet and won't for a bit, this is just my impression of the unofficial reviews.

And I've played the first two but not Gates to Infinity.

my copy of this game is on the way. I'm hoping I'll be able to start playing it this Tuesday. I hope it's better than Gates to Infinity because I got easily bored of that game.

So ive been playing this game for about 3 hours now. But is the only way to befriend pokemon in this by beating quests? Or can i befriend them the old fasion way?

CrimsonBlade

Eel

You can only befriend the Pokemon you've done quests for.

With some exceptions, like the legendaries that join you after you beat them.

@Morpheel: Thank you for the quick response. I'm actually disappointed with the direction they took with it.

I don't know.... I am a huge fan of explorers' (I played through 3 times when I first picked it up) and I can say that I am enjoying SMD. I skipped over GTI, so I can't do much comparison with that. But playing so far has been great. It reminds me a lot of explorers' to be completely honest. The story line is very interesting to me. The only method for recruiting being completing the missions is kind of a hassle.. But I still throughly enjoyed the game. Sure I cant say this is one of the top games of 2015, but do I regret purchasing it? Not at all. I definitely would recommend picking this up if you enjoyed past games in the series.

Working on the review as we speak, guys! Overall, I'd say that I'm entertained by it, but I'm not sure if I'm really "getting" it. It's fun enough, but the dungeons can get repetitive pretty quick and there is a LOT of text to comb through. What are your thoughts?
