Hello, I'd like to thank you all in advance for reading this, it's appreciated <3

I'd like to start off by saying kudos to Game Freak for all the new ideas they've come up w/their past few games (Horde encounters, Mega evolutions...). I have an idea (and have had it for a little while) of a cool way to buff mono-type pokemon (meaning 1 type)! There could be like an item or some other way of activating it but what it does is "enhance" the pokemon's current type. Let's use a mono-type pokemon as an example, like Magmortar (fire type). What it could do to enhance his type, make it something like "Lava type" for a battle, and what that could potentially do is:

1. Increase STAB bonus by a certain amount (maybe have it NOT stack w/Adaptability idk XD)
2. Make half of the things that pokemon's original type (in this case fire) is weak to and make them neutral (rounded down hopefully)
3. Make some things it's strong against (maybe half again) increase its weakness to the original type by 2 times more (like something that is weak to fire by one type, it takes 2x the damage, and w/this it could take like 4x as much damage)!

OR maybe just like other things or like you choose one of them (like offensive w/the 3rd or 1st thing, or both, defensive w/the 2nd thing) and so on...

Once again I'd like to thank you for viewing this thread, and I hope Game Freak maybe take this idea into consideration? If it won't mess up competitive battling that is XD

Anyway, have a great day!

Lava is not exactly extreme fire. It is melted rock and stuff. I would have ask to keep the name and change the color of the sign thingy. (From red to white or blue in fire's case)
I think the whole double the weakness and effective thing is a bit iffy to. If water blasts EXTREMELY hot fire, it would not double the damage to it, it wil turn to steam. So I'm with on the increase STAB and resistance to weakness thing.
But either way, isn't single types good enough since they are less complicated to fight with?

Well, we're not Nintendo first of all.

Second, that would overcomplicate the type chart. I'd rather them keep it simple

I'd be open to more types, but they should really only be introduced when they have to fix a type chart problem (just as Dark and Steel came about to nerf Psychic and Fairy came about to nerf Dragon) and an existing type won't do the trick. Some things that I think we need a new type for:

1. A new weakness for Electric (which would also have the added benefit of reducing Ground type's dominance).
2. New type advantages for Dark and Ghost (no type should really share the same type advantage).

Some other things they could fix (but don't necessarily demand new types):

1. Ice type needs some resistances besides itself.
2. Anything that benefits Grass, Rock, or Bug (all of those types have too many types that resist it and too many weaknesses).

What would Lava type do to fix any of these issues? I doubt it would help with any of these problems.

Thanks for at least responding w/your feedback lol. I mean, I didn't know how much like benefit it would do or disbenefit based on other players and what they see of the game. I mean, I'm not a NOOB at Pokemon (Ik about lots of things, including EV training), I just felt like expressing my idea and see if any other people can think of good/bad things about it. I'm just that kind of person, and I appreciate you guys replying and telling me what you think of it. It's not like I'm expecting it to ever become a thing, I just thought of it randomly and thought it was a cool idea and wanted other people's opinion! So thanks
