@Morpheel: I think that is a bit more work than it is worth. At that point it might be actually easier to just remake Gen 1 using the assets from Pokemon Z

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If they remake gen 1, I'll be unbelievably upset if missing no. isn't included. I want to see missing no. in VGC.

I would love to see a DP remake as long as they don't nerf what made it good in the first place, the region design and the content. I don't mind this time if they don't have the Battle Frontier, but they need to keep everything from DP and Platinum's Sinnoh Dex. They should also follow up with storyline improvements similar to ORAS to round things off. If they can do that much then it'll easily be the best remake and probably the best game of all time.

I also think they should revisit Kanto at some point, but through a BW2 style sequel. Kanto needs a major overhaul to hold up nowadays.

Staying on topic, Gen IV remakes would absolutely need an expansion of the pre-E4 Pokedex. One of the worst parts of the game was the lack of Fire types. If you didn't select Infernape (never did and never will), I believe your only other Fire option was Rapidash. Otherwise the Pokedex was just lackluster.

Checking Bulbapedia, Ponyta/Rapidash was your only wild option in Diamond/Pearl, with Houndour and Magmar added in Platinum (though both mid- to late- game). (aside from Flareon, though I hear he's one of the worst Eeveelutions.

They already fixed that in Platinum, most of the types that were lacking were fixed with Platinum's expansion (it's still a little low on Dragon though). So they just need to retain that in the remakes, and I'm reasonably certain they will. They'll probably also throw in Sylveon and any cross gen evos they happen to introduce in 7th gen.

Houndour is available at a fairly reasonable point in the game, but it's only available at night. Magmar I have a feeling they might make version exclusive with Electabuzz, but now that you mention it that would have a negative impact on the distribution so they should probably just leave it.

While I would love to see another remake of gen 1... I actually would love even more if they did a 3D classics version of it.

With less bugs and refined mechanics, like the special stat separation from gen 2, all the new things from gen 3 and the move classifications from gen 4. But with the same graphics, just updated with 3D.

And maybe a way to load your Pokemon to Bank.

This actually sounds very cool, and I'm sure something like that would sell well based on people's nostalgia alone (though I do wonder how shiny Pokemon would work!). As much as I would love it though, I'd still prefer Gen I to be remade in the XY engine (or whatever's more current at the time). I think it'd be a waste not to see Kanto in 3D this time round (and by that I mean using polygons!). I think the region could do with the inclusion of some newer Pokemon as well.

Well, I guess they would work just like they did in the original games.

They "existed", but you had no way to know if you Pokemon was shiny until you transferred it to GSC.

I think we're reaching a point where they can't really remake the last generations anymore. The only thing I can see benefiting Gen 4(or Gen 5) is being able to walk diagonally. A G1 remake seems more likely, and even then it doesn't feel necessary, I'd much rather them just rerelease it on the eShop

In terms of 20th anniversary stuff, I think it would be great if they made a semi-remake where you traversed through edited versions of all the regions, or at least maybe the first four. I mean, gold/silver were on the gameboy and they brought you back to Kanto... why haven't any of the other games had as awesome a post-game as that?

I don't remember anyone complaining about the lack of fire types in Hoenn... Or Johto... You know you can have a team without fire types, right? It hasn't really ruined any of the games...

@-Godot: So you think someone should get the short end of the stick and not use their favorite type in a game rather than giving everyone an equal opportunity to use their favorite type by making sure an equal number of each type are available in each game? That's real low. Also, double posting is a no-no.

@BlatantlyHeroic: Uhhhhh... no? I was just trying to say that it's no reason not to remake the 4th generation. And they can always just change it in the remake. My post really sounded that way though... sorry.
Oh... just realized no one even said they shouldn't remake it because of that reason... I'm an idiot.

lol but diamond and pearl came out less than 10 years ago. they are DS games. you can play DS games on your 3DS. why don't you just buy the game and play it. what do you need a remake of a relatively new game for?!

It's not like these remakes are made for anything other than nostalgia money.

Anyway, I think most of the people here agree that any 4th gen remakes won't happen on the 3DS.

Oh hey welcome back, it's been like 3000 years since the last time I saw you post.

Anyway... Nintendo without nostalgia would be like... Boring. I think. So I can't complain.

No matter what pokemon game we get, the concept will be the same, and we won't have it any other way.

...People are already pushing for these? I mean, we just got Gen 3 remakes! As mentioned above, I see it more likely that any D/P remakes will be on the next handheld system.

While I for the most part loved Gen 4 (especially the Old Chateau and the Distortion World, though the latter was more of an element in Platinum), there's definitely some room for improvement. The lack of fire types (as mentioned above), some of the pacing between gyms 2 and 3 (though this isn't the only Gen at fault), and the existence of Chimchar are the things I can think of right now.

I can think of several things that have been done recently that Sinnoh could benefit from. They could do the same thing ORAS did and add in Mega Evolutions and extra story arcs (and there's actually several events in DP that could be expanded into Delta Episode-esque story arcs, Heatran and Team Galactic at Stark Mountain, Giratina and Arceus in Turnback Cave/Spear Pillar, Cresselia and Darkrai. I doubt we'll see all three, but we can get at least one of those, probably Giratina and Arceus). The PSS could greatly enhance the Underground and make it more active. Lastly, they could give the Pokeradar DexNav functionality. And that's without us even knowing what 7th gen has in store for us, there could be several new mechanics 7th gen adds that would make 4th gen feel more obsolete.

I do not expect to see a remake of DP until 4 to 6 years from now.
