The safest bet for gen 4 remakes is diamond and pearl. With minor references to platinum.
Platinum is the complete and best game out of the three... I hope Gamefreak pushes aside their greed and just remakes Pokemon Platinum. I know I'm in the minority. Lol

@Blast: I mean, the ORAS remakes were pretty good and didn't really lose out on anything that Emerald had. Overall I felt Gen IV was pretty lackluster. Most of my playtime was for metagame stuff.

Oh yeah... Diamond and Pearl remakes might actually be good. Lol I'm dumb.

Gen 1 is in the most need of a remake currently. It is the only generation currently that cannot be played on the 3DS. I also think it is the generation that would gain the most improvement from the new 3D style.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Completely agree with this.
However when they do remake Gen 4, I think they should do it in a similar way to HGSS — base it on Diamond and Pearl, however adding features from Platinum to keep everything a bit more up-to-date. They should definitely expand the Pokedex so that it matches Platinum at the very least, as I find the biggest weakness of Diamond and Pearl is that the selection of Pokemon is pretty poor.
It's going to happen, just not on 3DS. Probably whatever succeeds the 3DS like I dunno, a HDS with HD Mumbo Jumbo etc. Now that I would love to see painted onto my fav generation.
Didn't realize many people actually cared about Gen 4. After Gen 3 it was pretty much just going through the motions. A remake of Gen 1 makes more sense anyway; it's newest version is still a generation behind Gen 4.
While I would love to see another remake of gen 1... I actually would love even more if they did a 3D classics version of it.
With less bugs and refined mechanics, like the special stat separation from gen 2, all the new things from gen 3 and the move classifications from gen 4. But with the same graphics, just updated with 3D.
@Morpheel: A 3D classic remake is absolutely a better idea. I LOVE the original sprites, graphics, and (most) sounds. Since Pokemon games are never going to release on a VC, a 3D Classic release would be a way that they could tweak certain things while still keeping the game largely intact.
Staying on topic, Gen IV remakes would absolutely need an expansion of the pre-E4 Pokedex. One of the worst parts of the game was the lack of Fire types. If you didn't select Infernape (never did and never will), I believe your only other Fire option was Rapidash. Otherwise the Pokedex was just lackluster.

A D/P/PT remake would only interest me for Cynthia, the only aspect of Gen IV that wasn't underwhelming or boring. She carried the whole generation for me.
