Topic: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire

I just started this game and have only ever casually dabbled in the world of Pokemon in the past. I transferred some low level Pokemon from my Y game. My current party is made up of Wingull, Pancham, Pikachu, Torchic, Chespin & Beldum. Is this a solid party or should I think about making some changes?

Sounds like a good party to me - it has a wide range of types which is obviously important and they'll all get better as they evolve. Just be wary of levelling them up too much too soon as they'll become disobedient if their levels get too high for your current number of gym badges. Also, be open to changing up your team as you encounter more wild Pokémon throughout the game.

Thanks NFreak007, I will keep that in mind. Also, with this dexnav is it vital to catch all the pokemon as you enter a new area? I don't want to waste pokeballs on pokemon I have no intention on every using.

Your only motivation to catch every Poké is if you wanna complete the Dex, which is nothing but bragging rights. So no, there's no expectation from the game in terms of how many Pokés you catch, at least not during the main path.
