Topic: People who use legendary Pokemon online

More specifically people who go online and battle other players with them. I mean they are cool to use and are kind of fun in battles, but it kind of bothers me when someone uses them online. Pokémon battles are fun even if you're losing because even if you lose you still learn from the battle and that you're style/technique/planning wasn't as good as the winning trainers, but the fun in that is gone when someone just trumps you with legendry Pokémon. Not that using legendary Pokémon are wrong (it's really fun to slaughter the CPU's with Mega Mewtwo) but using them online against other players is in my opinion kind of wrong.

I'm still new to playing Pokemon online (I haven't used a legendary yet) but why would it be "wrong"? They're in the game for a reason, and since everyone can get the legendaries why not use them too?

@SkywardLink98 Legendary Pokemon have higher stats than a normal Pokemon, so it's pretty much cheating in a normal battle. Now, if you were having an Uber battle with someone, then you both could use Legendary Pokemon. Otherwise, it's just not right. Legendary Pokemon are there to complete the Pokedex, because it's tradition, and because they serve as trophies of your accomplishments as a Pokemon Trainer.

You should be more concerned about people who use Legendaries while sitting right next to you, after you specifically told them not to... and then they claim "I only play Pokémon for fun!"

Sure everyone can get the legendaries, but what if someone chooses not to use them?

Really the message here is, there needs to be a no legendary pokemon type battle.

I'm with @Warruz there needs to be a no legendary Pokémon option. Such a thing wouldn't be that hard to program in the game and would keep it fair for those who choose not to use legendary Pokémon.

You are what you eat from your head to your feet.

I say let them; makes it all the more sweeter when they rage quit. Seriously, you can beat legendaries easily.

I know they have higher stats, so why not use them? Since everyone get's the legendaries they're not much an accomplishment, and everyone can use them. Sorry if I'm not making sense, but it like saying "I want to use a wood bat instead of an aluminum one, and you can't use an aluminum one or you're cheating even though I own one and we could have a fair fight!" Unless the other person lacks a legendary, I don't see how it unbalances everything. Pokemon aren't all equal, so why is using the best one cheating?

@Gaminguy010 Then it's their fault. You have access to a pokemon that was designed to be the best, and you choose not to use it. You can't get mad at someone else for deciding to use the best pokemon when you had the option and chose not to.

@SkywardLink98 its generally looked at as cheap to use legendaries on your team since their stats are usually 150 to 200 points higher then common pokemon. Xerneas's stats add up to be 680, while by comparison, Charizard's is 535. On top of that they usually learn incredibly powerful moves naturally so they can wipe out a team of non legendaries pokemon easily.
That being said I think only casual players and kids use legendaries online since I have never lost to a person who has 1( or 2 or 3).

I have no problem with the legendaries being used in battle. There is one huge flaw in them, they cannot be bred for perfect IVs and natures. This generally balances them with the other pokemon, since you can, and probably do, breed the others to make them perfect for your team, but with the legendaries you are stuck with what luck gives you. My Garchomp took out a Xerneas with little problem, Toothless has all six IVs perfect by breeding, and is trained to put on the hurt, even against fairies. She can take out a mega Mawile as well, as long as I don't make a mistake and select the wrong move.

The fun fact about Toothless, it only took me one day of breeding, starting with a "decent" Gible and Ditto to get her. Same with my Abomasnow named Jack Frost, using a Snover of course.

I once faced a guy whose team looked like this - Mega Mewtwo Y, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zapdos. OHKO'ed Mewtwo with my Mega Banette (Sucker Punch FTW) and I almost won... Almost.

@Csaw I get why you guys think it's cheap, I just think your wrong in doing so. They do have higher stats than others, that's the whole point. Thing is though, everyone has legendaries, so it balances out fine. It's like saying "we both have the boost, but I'm not going to use it and you're cheating if you choose to use it."
You're free to use 'em, but you're cheating yourself by not using them, the other people are in no way cheating. Don't act like they cheated when you knowingly chose not to use legendaries. As for myself, I think I'll use an IV bred team, simply for the deeper level of customization and specialization of each member of the team.

I beat a team of legendaries (not online) yesterday! They were just the 'little guys', the 600 base stat guys, so they're not banned, but still hard to beat!

The solution is to make an actual competitive team. If you pay attention to EV spreads, natures, and decent movesets (IVs are entirely optional in this situation, but 31 Speed is always nice (unless Aegislash or something)) I guarantee you'll win nearly every battle you have against randoms with legendaries, because nine times out of ten they're complete scrubs who have no idea what they're doing. Outsmarting non competitive players is not hard.

Not all legendaries are unfair to use you know. For instance, the likes of Latios, Moltres and Registeel are fair and allowed in competitive play. In the case of the main legendaries such as Rayquaza, these are kinda unfair to use online I must say.

Legendaries are not impossible to beat. I have beaten the Y legendary one twice and ummmm....is it zygarde? It's the darn sword and a couple of Dragons that kick my butt! Plus I need to add that this is my starting team with nobody over 1 IV. So Legendaries CAN be dealt with. I'm with you personally. I prefer not using them. But it ,makes you feel awesome when someone uses them and you STILL beat them.
